Let's all take a minute to appreciate the fact that Liu Shan killed the wielder of what is probably the second most OP weapon type (in my opinion) after the halberd.

Well in DW7 at least, Liu Shan is portayed as a man who knows his strengths and weaknesses, he knows how to motivate people and he knows how to make people believe is an idiot as well as to veil his intentions. In this game at least his normal demeanour is a façade of being selfish and childish when he is in fact a kind and thoughtful person however he is also a man who isn't held down by other people's ideals. He clearly respects Liu Bei's vision but knows it's unachievable though his means.

Burdened by a dead man's wish. This is something not touched upon At All in the game but Zhong Hui's rebellion was supposedly out of loyalty to Cao Wei rather than the Sima's usurpation, so it's possible he was referring to Cao Cao's legacy. It is also that he may have been talking about himself and the ability to look beyond that. Then there's the thought that he may have been referring to Jiang Wei (who he had slain earlier in this stage) who blindly led the country to it's fall.

After the death of Zhuge Liang, it was in fact Jiang Wei who actually did all that he could to restore Shu. Sadly, he just didn't hold as much power as Jiang Wan and Fei Yi, who both abandon Zhuge Liang campaign plans. In my opinion, I think Liu Feng was the true heir to the Shu Kingdom, not Liu Shan. However because of his simple but costly mistake of not sending Guan Yu reinforcements, he ended his life too early.

I agree he made the best decision under that circumstances, though he remains a fool in reality. Just look at the way he rules Shu, nothing to speak home about. Jiang Wei, as an army commander, is in fact quite capable. ppl forgot how hard it is for him w/ Shu's little resources and manpower to draw a tie w/ Wei for such a long time. Yet, his fatal mistake is failing to see the bigger picture b/c of his blind loyalty to supposed "legitimate Han" that Confucious philosophy tied him into.

A lot of people blame Liu Shan for the fall of Shu. I actually think he did the right thing to surrender to Wei. The ROT3K was a story of war and he knew he didn't have what it took to lead, nor did he care for politic affairs. The guy basically was wrapped up in something he didn't wish to be apart of and his actions for the better ended the fighting.

In ROTK after Zhao Yun saved Liu Shan as a child during Changban and returned him to Liu Bei and told Liu Bei what he had gone through to save Liu Shan, Liu Bei was moved by Zhao 's loyalty and threw Liu Shan at the ground cursing him for almost costing Zhao Yun's life. So it's speculated that, that's why Liu Shan is inept in the novel. So.....spiked like a football after all Zhao Yun's hard work to save him :)

true. In the actual history Liu Bei even said to Zhuge Liang to take over the throne over his son if he proves incapable. But Zhuge refused doing so out of loyalty... And when Liu Shan surrendered Shu, there aren't many brave generals and good strategist to compete with Wei. So in my opinion, there aren't many options left for him...

This is true. Especially since many speculate that Liu Shan pretended to be dumb to avoid execution and he was rewarded for it by living a comfortable life under Jin til he died of old age.
