I still can't understand why people vilify Cao Cao so much. The game itself falls victim to that, even though the Wei story manages to make him seem and feel more human than both Sun Quan and Liu Bei combined. To be honest, I think Cao Cao is one of the most human characters in all of Dynasty Warriors, if not THE most human... I actually prefer him over Liu Bei. He may be ruthless and ambitious, but he's no Dong Zhuo, who used terror to rule over the people. He's the reason I'm becoming more partial to Wei (Jin will always be my favorite kingdom... Gotta love Sima Yi, and let's not forget the angelic Yuanji).

It's not so much that he's "villainous". He just has a different idea about how China may find peace and prosper again, which some may view as "wrong" or "without virtue". So did Sun Quan and Liu Bei, for that matter. Liu Bei was particularly opposed to Cao Cao because of their differing views on the Han Dynasty, so far as I know. Cao Cao just falls victim to the same trap as many other historical figures of his time. Many are portrayed very differently from how they were [as recorded in history].

Cao Cao has every right to be vilified though, regardless of how much Koei tries to whitewashes into a “good guy”. Maybe if he wasn’t such a raping mass murderer who butchered civilians and surrendered troops alike, then there wouldn’t be so many people choosing to follow Liu Bei instead.

Honestly of all the DW games 7 & 8 really brought some serious drama into the games. You look back at 2-6 and it had moments, but not a large narrative. It paints the three kingdoms as noble in their own respect, but adds a bit of sorrow to the fact that they refuse to unite. Of the three though, speaking in terms of the game, Cao Cao was the only one who could have realistically won it as Liu Bei was simply too much of an idealist and Sun Quan relied too much on his family name.

Xu Chu killed several enemies and was promoted to "Military Guard General of the Household" (武衞中郎將) for his achievement. This was the first time the term "Military Guard" (武衞) was used. It's funny how strong Lu Bu is in the Dynasty Warriors games, but if you have him lead a unit in Romance of the Three Kingdoms X, he becomes one of the greatest liabilities ever. Also a free kill. Entice + Confuse stunlock on him is SO easy to do. Would rather have Liu Shan, Pewdiepie, or Zhang Fei lead my units. Pathetically piss poor officer. I'm glad he dies early. I can buy his weapon really easily and give it to an officer that can actually use it properly.

I wanted Dynasty Warriors 7 and 8 to come to PC for years. I've been a fan since DW5 a fan for like 10 years, but haven't played DW since DW6 because of KOEI fear of progression. Anyways I borrowed DW8 for my 360, and I can actually say, I'm glad I didn't buy it, because it's not worth it. It's graphics are lagging behind western games and the modes getting boring fast. After going through story mode once I have my DW fill for the day. It's nothing I'd play all day Though I have to say it is the best DW game since DW4, only because DW5,6,7 were stripped down versions of 4 with better graphics and more non-fun modes. Anyways PC keep your heads up We have Kingdom Under Fire II coming to the PC, I had the old Kingdom under Fire on Xbox and boy did I love that game!

I already read the three kingdom book and the scene Cao Cao tried to kill Dong Zhou is bull shit in this video . At the time Cao Cao tended to murder Dong Zhou he was just a man under Zhou's control when Zhou took over the power of the Han emperor .
