Dynasty Warriors 8: Xtreme Legends - Yuan Shao 6 Star Weapon Guide

Goal: Make Wang Yun acknowledge the Yuan family as the greatest clan within 10 minutes.
Stage: Nobility Face-off
Guide: This one's actually sorta tough. Might want to make sure Yuan has a decent amount of levels or good weapons. Definitely want to play on Free Mode for the use of Red Hare and bodyguards.
First, defeat the 5 officers before Cao Cao or Sun Jian say they've finished their battles. They're pretty tough, especially Diaochan, and Cao Cao and Sun Jian go pretty fast. Don't turn around to go after Diaochan until you've killed all the other officers, because she'll be running towards you anyways so that'll save some time. Once you do that and Yuan Shao says he finished first, make an interm save in case you mess up the next part.
Now, start heading back to where you started. You need to protect all the Supply Captains until they get to the Peasants. The peasants won't die no matter what, so don't worry about protecting them. Defeat enemies along your way, and Cai Wenji should show up really soon. Defeat her and try not to let her hit your Supply Captains, because she may KO them if a stray attack hits them too many times.
Now, start taking out all the Mobile Unit Commanders, Bandit Leaders, and peons that get in way of your Supply Captains. Cao Cao and Sun Jian will probably finish before you do, and that's fine, being first doesn't matter this time. What matters is keeping your allies alive until they reach the Peasant troop. Just be mindful not to waste too much time, because if you go over 10 minutes you've failed.
At the end right beside the Peasant troops, alot of ballistae and Bandit Leaders will spawn. Be careful not to let the ballistae kill your Supply Captains, use your musous to take them out as fast as you can. Now just lead the Supply Captain to the Peasant troop and Wang Yun will announce you the winner. There's alot of scripted lines and battle logs that appear after that, so the "Discovered treasure!" message takes a while to appear.
Time: The weapon appeared at 8:17, when Wang Yun announced the Yuan family as the winner. I got the weapon at 9:19. The message saying the weapon appeared showed up at 9:30, after I'd gotten the weapon.
Location: In the base where Wang Yun was located.
You must be playing on Hard difficulty or higher to get the weapon.
You must be playing as the required character to unlock the weapon.
You can only have 1 of the unique weapons.

I love how absurdly strict they made the time limits on some of these weapon requirements, as seen here and with Dong Zhuo’s 5* weapon. Even with maxed out Halberd’s on Yuan Shao, I still only had about 20 seconds to spare with the first part of this map. You’re only given about two minutes before Cao Cao kills all of his officers (and thus prevents you from winning the challenge period.) They decided to just randomly throw in Diao Chan for you to kill too, who is beefier than the other officers, spawns at the very start instead of the end, and just quietly flees if you don’t kill her, leaving you wondering why you didn’t win after killing the last guy. Talk about supremely trollish lol. Then escorting the supply captains is simply a chaotic struggle against the game’s flimsy ai. The soldiers seem to take a couple steps and then stop briefly, rinse and repeat, as if to deliberately waste your time to a ridiculously unsubtle extent. Not to mention they stop to fight every individual stray peon they see (because that’s what they’re tasked to do as supply captains, right? Those poor starving villagers...) Luckily, you only seem to need to win the first part, since the game decided to take 5 extra minutes to push the captains to the base, yet there apparently isn’t a time limit. I suppose getting all 5 captains there safely helped, but at least they proved surprisingly elusive from all the enemy archers and ballistae (hope you like being perma-stunned by off-screen enemies...and you thought the series’ earlier archers were brutal...)

I love this character.. definately the best character imo, his rage mode is so ridiculous... just annihalates everything on the screen 100%, and almost all his moves have either stuns or elements on it lol.. so so op.

@darkbane you just have to level up weapon power lu bu 6th weapon, explosive halberd. and then go to ambition mode and select yuan shao, go to academy, and level him up as well.

Although I do not like his new moveset, I still like Yuan Shao as a character, still wish they kept his moveset from 4 and 5.

excuse me, did they change sabaton air switch attack? it seems like i can only do it in certain move but in dw8 japanese version i saw this dude do it non-stop. how come?

I've only ever seen it have one switch attack. You may be confusing it with the switch counter attack.

No... sabaton air switch attack when u use strong attack 6 and press switch attack it will land a powerful dive kick. But there are other youtuber done it non stop bu i dont know how. I guess you should try it. We can use it using different strong attack but rarely work for me. I juz want to know how that's all

Lmao you actually used his ex weapon instead of using something like the throwing knives or goin horse with a harp. Good thing he is a funny officer otherwise I will dislike him for his constant talk about being and noble and whatever.
