It's dyno time, baby. In the first of the proper BBB challenges, we headed to JHS Racing to unearth the ZX-7R and SRAD's rear wheel power. Points lost for power lost over the years. Let battle commence.

As a minority still can't comprehend why we used manufacturers' claimed figures, we'll leave this here: yes, they're crank figures, and of course the bikes haven't 'lost' all that power, but there's no other way of ensuring fairness and consistency. Every dyno reads differently (JHS Racing's dyno is very modest while others could give 10bhp more), every bike will give a different figure (by as much as 10bhp in our experience), and atmospheric conditions in a dyno room can skew figures by as much as 5bhp. We used 140bhp and 123bhp as they're the only solid numbers in existence, although it's evident that Suzuki's claimed figure was fairly optimistic. It really isn't that tricky to fathom and, besides, it's a bit of fun. Nobody died, the world hasn't ended. Thanks. Bye.

Bullshit, Suzuki's "claimed" hp for the first fuel injected GSXR 750s (both 98 & 99) was nowhere near 140hp. It was 133hp for UK spec bikes. If you want to keep the points race close because the Kwaka is a dog, at least don't piss on us and call it rain.

There are countless claimed figures. We used the most common one. So sorry we're pissing on you - you can have a refund. Oh, hang on...

The Kwak just needs its carbs sorting and a clutch, the SRAD - rad, forks, reg... it's pretty even, you can't get a nice example of either for £1500...

How fun. I love both of these motorcycles. No one looks at a classic Mustang or Camaro and goes..."Oh, what a pile." No, they look at those 'classics' and get excited. These are both still worthy of ownership and riding. I hope you are still friends after this battle.

Early-late90's mustangs look like shit, saying that so do most of the early 2000's I wouldn't call them a classic.

For fans of either brand, the F-Body and Fox-Body still hold value and are still desirable. Try finding a WS6 Trans AM in good condition for below 10k now...not gonna happen. Though not as 'valuable', the Fox Body Mustang is a great platform for a whatever-you-want-it-to-be car.

No, no, no... Television´s dead: I´ll watch, what I want to watch, & when I want to watch it. I´ll not be subjected to some stinking fat cat´s ad campaign synched across all their channels, and I do not want that same fat cat dumbing the programme down to suit the thicko couch dwelling channel surfers skipping between all the ad-synched channels...

Thanks for the video was fun to watch, and to all the viewers who are quick to bitch about numbers most of you can’t even put your knee down on a 250 etc. because after a month most would assume they need more power just because they know how to twist a throttle. Be happy you have the ability/privilege to watch these videos.

I owned a candy red ZX-7R, it was also signed by Scott Smart on the white part of the tail section (got the pic of him stood next to it) , he signed it on the day I bought it, it was the year he was fighting for 3rd in BSB championship on the Hawk Kawasaki, the year before he moved to Rizla Suzuki, unfortunately things went south for me and had to sell it couple years later. I bought a powercommander for it to pair up with the ART can I bought for it, nearest dyno place was 14 miles away and he didnt have the connections to his laptop to set it up, but on the dyno as it was the bike gave 115hp, he admitted it should do more but without the cable he couldnt do it. I loved the bike though the wife didnt like the rear seat much, but the size of the bike was great for me, I went to look at the ZX10R when they came out and those were tiny compared, I looked like an adult on a kids bike, so got a Honda Blackbird (fast for me but comfy for wife) when I could afford a bike again. Genuinely hope its still out there with Scotts signature on it though, as even now I feel horrible for having to let it go.

I had a 1997 Gixxer 600, fantastic machine. Didn't do a lot of mods D&D slip on, braided brake lines, ebc pads and k&n air filter. That was it and it was a great bike for the six years I owned it. The Gixxer 750 is still a great machine to this day and can be had for a decent price. My favorite of all time though...the 1996 cbr900rr. My friend had one and the first time I sat on it and rode it, it felt more like a 600 with the ergos. But of course when you hit the throttle(he had a full exhaust, jet kit and air filters)it definitely was no 600. But those 900s were and are fantastic machines. Would take one over a new cbr1000 any day of the week.
