Great video sir, thank you for sharing this info. My 5th Gen, LS-3 I basically did same mods since I bought it. Headers, CAI air box, hi flow cats and 3 “ Flowmaster exhaust. Did a Cam Motions Titan 3 and when all said and done it pulled 466 wheels with 415 TQ. Your customers car in video had 440. Makes sense since LS starts with around 25 more HP. If you do a 16.5 % deduction from 426 for the conversion from crank to Rear Wheel I started with 365 and now have 466. + 101. Seems about right from what going on reputable people such as yourself and others report. I’m extremely happy with the car. Runs great, sounds awesome. Keep posting the informative info , thank you!

Definitely cool data to see in steps. I'm sure you would agree to say the gains from the long tubes were amplified by the cam. Either way cool to see results from each modification. I did an LS3 stick car last year and it landed about 480 which is pretty impressive for a mildly built street car.
@NorthernPerformanceCars2 жыл бұрын
Absolutely. I’ve done longtubes and intake on these cars before and it’s usually about 25rwhp. Definitely the added airflow of the cam adding to that. Awesome data to have for sure.

I have an LS3 with the ATAK and cam, and I'm glad to see that the Long Tubes really do a LOT. My motor blew, so I'm running the LS3/525 motor for now, but it dynoed at 380hp with cast manifolds/cats at 200k miles while I recoup money for some Texas Speed Long Tubes. While I have a motor warranty, I'll keep the 525 Cam in it, but I'm probably going with the 1 7/8 LT's as I'm thinking the 2" LT's won't give me as much as I'd like.

Very nicely documented before and after testing. Interesting to see how much tq the cam lost under the curve, when everyone else's dyno data suggests GAINING under the curve with an aftermarket cam. With this amount of loss (~35 ftlbs), might as well go with the LS9 cam if your ok with only about a 20hp gain up top, but with a much better idle quality and driveability.

Do you think that k&n is leaving hp on the table vs a cold air inductions kit that is boxed off from the heat vs the seal to the hood. Great video. It's a lot of extra work separating the steps, but was cool to see each gain.

Have a 2017 SS SPORT Sedan...w/6 MT. Dying to Mod this thing; simple stuff: BTR Stage III, (and his spring/pushrod/retainer set up), American Racing 1⅞ Long Tubes, and an intake. Hopefully, on a good day, it would pull a solid 485 to 499.9hp to the wheels. I don't think it'd pull 500hp, unless I had a set of Chevrolet Performance CNC heads or the like. Then....probably yes, but mine are stock. I'm "aiming" for 500 N/A hp...

These are realistic rear wheel numbers and l realize this is only a stage 2 camshaft and l realize a stage 3 or 4 camshaft would make more in the upper rpm range going to a stage 3 may pickup 5 to 7 more horsepower and a stage 4 another 5-7 more horsepower to the rear wheels than the stage 3 and this application it peaked around 435-440 with a stage 2 camshaft add 14-15 horsepower for a stage 4 camshaft and your at 455 rear wheel horsepower tells me the majority of people with a stock LS3 engine stock stroke and bore with stock heads and stock compression even with CNC ported LS3 heads telling people they are making 480-500+ horsepower are full of shit if your cammed LS3 is knocking down 430-460 rear wheel horsepower that is a 90-120 horsepower increase to the rear wheels with a simple camshaft and valve spring upgrade believe me is amazing but 340 stock to 500 with a camshaft upgrade and valve springs to the rear wheels is 160 horsepower in most cases is complete bullshit and not true unless it has more compression or expensive aftermarket AFR heads a or 12 degree LS7 style head that allow for a camshaft with .660+ or more lift and flow 380+cfm on the intake side then making 500+ rear wheel horsepower is possible this also shows that people with a LS3 completely stock with long tube headers and a cold air intake and tuned claiming they are making 400-420 rear wheel horsepower are full of shit also
@SpeedDemonCBR2 жыл бұрын
You do realize that this is an L99 and not an LS3 right. LS3s make 370-380 to the wheel stock so it’s not far fetched to be making 400-420 with a cold air intake long tube headers and a tune there buddy. One the automatic robs more power than the manual does and 2 the L99 has less power than the LS3 has so with this L99 making 440 to the wheels then the LS3 should make 460-470 to the wheels with the same setup. So stop spreading bad information
