People are so hung up on power figures. My mk2 escort made 159.8bhp at the flywheel on a Dyno Dynamics rolling road. Its a decent figure for the spec i have but it doesn't make me smile as much as when i kill modern, more powerful, more expensive cars off the lights. Sometimes i meet them again at the next set of traffic lights and they ask what i have under the bonnet. When i tell them its just a relatively stock old banger mondeo engine on a carb that was designed over 40 years ago and i explain how little power i have the look on their face is priceless! . . . . @@Sparkplugsteve nah you've added mods and had it remapped to suit mods, it's not stage anything. Not a dig at you mate I like your content and your humour so don't take it the wrong way. It's not just you it's the whole car community, youtube, fb insta etc they're all at it. It's the companies pushing this whole stage thing and it's annoying because where does it end? Added iridium sparkplugs, cars now stage 2.5 mate 😂

I get what your saying but how else could a company show that each map is a different state of tune. Its an easy way of branding.how would you do it differently? Thanks for the kind words.

I also think it's a different scenario to say what I had on my last car. I had a standalone ecu and was custom mapped to what ever mods I did. But custom mapping isn't done very much if at all in the fiesta world. A generic map is built to suit a set of mods and your governed by mods for the tune.

Section59 what are you on about. You can upgrade in ‘stages’ thats why.... or levels of modification. Its just a term used to describe what level of power its at, stage 1 being more basically modified running less power than stage 3.. 4... etc that is more modified. Companies can tell you a quoted figure of power as a ‘stage’ so if you want that figure for your car you know exactly what to buy to see them figures. Most people start at stage 1 then work up for more power. Makes things simpler than just buying a whole load of mods and not knowing what kind of power your going to be getting for your ££££. Different stages needing different mods to achieve the quoted power figures. How would that be a problem to you i dont get it 😂 you can be a level 1 technician, study more take an exam, pass and become a level 2 technician. if someone asked how good of a technician you could say for example ‘im a level 2 qualified technician’ to put in perspective your skills 😑
