I’m going to be harsh & say you’ve made the car slower. The torque spread on the old set up was better & it’s that pushes you up the road. The difference in power isn’t worth connecting on. I also said a while ago that Zetecs don’t want bigger jets & to go smaller. Don’t take this as a criticism but some useful words from a wiley old fox that’s been there mate. 👍

Doh car 1 240hp and 144lb-ft of Torque This is a car built for performance. It’s likely a sports car that’s loaded with “racetrack DNA,” built for a high top speed, pleasing acceleration and dynamic performance all round. Its torque, while not very low, isn’t commensurate with its raw power and speed in horsepower terms car 2 180hp and 175lb-ft of Torque This is a car perhaps built for utility. The massive torque that it has means it is likely quite capable of carrying a larger payload, pulling a small trailer and coping on slopes. It could be an SUV, or it might even be a piece of farm machinery. Overall, it may seem quite a simplification to some, but the main separating factors when it comes to application are performance and utility. BHP gives a car performance capabilities with a much higher top-end speed estimate. When you’re on a track and driving competitively, a handful of additional BHP is all you need over an opponent to outmaneuver them and pass them at a critical stage

Good going, but goes to show the stock zetec are more than enough rather than hunting out st170, the curve looks a lot nicer on previous setup. Is the torque dip the vvt switching? Maybe some louvres at the back of the bonnet to get some hot air out? And maybe a facet pump and reg rather than that self regulated version Good video mate. And good work on the fb group
@marcushayesford2 жыл бұрын
The curve was defo smoother on the DGV. The VVT is mapped with a table rather than being switched on/off. I think when the car is driving along it may do a better job of getting rid of the head. I tried a Facet pump and Malpasi regulator before but even with the regulator at the lowest setting fuel would leak from the breathers on the carbs. 👍

Considering you run a standalone ecu, why are you not using injectors as this would give much better control of the fuelling. asking as an outsider.
@marcushayesford2 жыл бұрын
The ECU I am using is for carbs so it doesn't have the ability to control fueling mate. Altho with this particular ECU I can pay a small fee to have the fueling side of things added if I decide to go down the injection route later on. I like carbs tho to be honest altho my favourite car is on Jenvey ITBs. 👍
@matthewwiddows63192 жыл бұрын
@@marcushayesford that explains it, didn't realise some stand alone ecu don't inc injector control, all the ones I have dealt with do. Only ever driven one carb car, a vauxhall astra.
