Dyno Day: The C8 eRay is a TORQUE MONSTER

THE C8 ERAY IS A TORQUE MONSTER!!! Right after a 16 hour drive from North Carolina my first stop in Texas with no break was to visit the dyno at JoTech, famous GTR shop which also has turned out some high HP C8's and V10 Supercars. I was quite surprised with the numbers. This is a no BS video, real numbers, real data, real conditions. I only let the car rest for maybe 30 minutes before we put it on the dyno and prior to the 30 min rest I was on the road for 9 hours straight driving. The car was heat soaked and the temperature outside was hot(you can see me sweating in the vid).Next videos: 1/4 mi test, Races against Supercars, 1/8 mi test, REAL 0-60 test, Dragstrip day, and more. I’m a Vette guy just sold my 8th C7 Z06 loved that platform. I love the sound and looks of the new Z, but this Eray has my attention. I can see high 9s in the near future without mush effort. Love the videos. The new Z sounds amazing.

I think one reason why the gap between the E-Ray and Z06's dyno numbers is bigger than the rated difference is due to the electric motor powering down by the top of 4th (assuming the E-Ray Dynos in 4th). Because of that, when the engine is making peak horsepower, the motor is probably not making full power. I'd assume GM's rated horsepower for the E-Ray just adds the individual peak numbers from the engine and motor together. I'm guessing it's a speed thing and not an RPM thing, so I'd guess the car is still making full power from 1st through most of 4th. Could be wrong, but it seems to line up with the dyno graphs I've seen from Paragon, CSP, and Boost District, and the drag races I've seen from Hagerty & Edmunds. Regardless, it's making considerably more torque than the Z06 through its entire rev range, so no doubt she's quick, but the Z06 has it in the top end.

Hey Jesse, Great Video! I have an ERAY being delivered any day now. I currently have a 23 Z06. I have put a very fun 5,000 miles on my Z. I also am #1 on my dealers list for the ZR1. I am trying to decide if I should trade in my Z when I pick up the ERAY. I love the Z but I am ready for something new. How does the ERAY compare to the Z06? I am really nervous that I am going to miss the sound of the 5.5 FPC motor. Since you have owned both, Considering I'll probably have to wait a year to get the ZR1. Would you keep the Z06 or take the ERAY? Thanks, David

It's tough to compare. Yep totally different monsters. One isn't an upgrade over the other. The z06 is special, and so is this. This eRay will give you more light to light fun. The z06 is lighter and sounds amazing....these 2 cars are equally cool

2100 DA you will be around three tenths slower. 10.63 is fast for the conditions. Car will run 10.30s/40s in much better DA.
