I can’t count the shade tree hicks I’ve encountered who think they can build engines. All of them seem to believe it is just a matter of buying some parts and throwing them together. About the third pass their motor destroys itself. Builders like Nick are rare-a person who actually knows something!

When I was working basic engine @ Caterpillar Mossville plant an assembler left a Welch plug out that got covered by the intake manifold on a 3206 engine. When it got to cold test dyno where they would hook it up and spin with an electric motor to measure air flow and monitor fuel flow, oil pressure, vibration & noise the operator started the test program and went & got a cup of coffee. When he got back there was 30 gal of oil on the floor of his test cell. Normally there would only be about 10 gal but this was a special stationary application and had a much bigger oil sump and he went ballistic when he seen that, but it was partly his fault for walking away without checking.

Nick, I watch your videos everyday on my android box. You motivate all of us old gearheads and your shop full of Mopars is what I grew up around. I am a few years older than you born in 54 when that pace car with that old Hemi came in and I really enjoy your channel. Keep up the good work, I know you are doing well there and making good money but the overhead i understand because I have been in business myself in the past. You inspire a lot of people and the Hemis you work on are part of our history as kids what we grew up with. Shame those cars were dime a dozen back in the day but now are 6 figure cars. Wish I would ended up with my dads 72 charger 318 automatic or his 66 charger 383 4 barrel 4 speed trans with air and 4 bucket seats. If only we knew back in the day. Thank's Nick for being yourself and sharing your Mopar and other old classic car experience with us. They were the best in the day and still are. You are a very lucky man to be able to touch so many beautiful mopars. And Vanishing Point was a bitchin movie and I need to watch it again on my Android box. Thanks Nick.

I see this was a long time ago! I hope they got a little smarter than they were! Any guy who actually knows what Hes doing dynoing engines, would never let a open container, with gallons of fuel in it in his dyno room! That is the perfect way to burn the whole shop to the ground! If you think a small fire is hard to put out from a fuel line breaking, you will never stop a fire with a open container with that much fuel in it! Also a engine builder is the guy that orders the parts, does the porting & valve job, machines the parts, & assembles the engine! If your just sticking someone's hard work together, you are a assembler!

I didn't catch this episode! That 72' Charger is a perfect double for my old car. Mine was built as a Hemi car, black interior, a hemi 4 speed, and it was purchased brand new and its owner pulled the hemi out and hung it's 4 speed with a length of clothes line. *(It was normal at that time to buy the entire car for it's Hemi) It sat covered for 6 years in a underground garage untill I found it. I'm not a "matching numbers" kinda guy, at first I sold the "Hemi" hood and "made" a 440 Magnum hood. (And that was misleading, mine had a rebuilt 472" six pack engine, not a single 4 barrel.) Years later I found out that it's "matching numbers" Hemi was destroyed, so it would never be the "perfect" car. It ran in the mid 10s as a drag car and s sustainable 168.8 mph as a "NASCAR" type of car. Man this one brings back memories. The way of the muscle car will never die. T.

I know that this would be almost like sacrilege for Nick, but I would really like to see a Ford 5.0 or 4.6 build. Preferably NA, but boost is always welcomed as well. Looks Like FUN I wanted to learn about cars when I was a Kid! I worked at it here and there, worked in a machine shops for a while, we built lots of motors. Balanced and Blue Printed some. everything from Jag six and 12 to Harley Shovel and tractors. Also big shops Sour Gas well and Ship Motors! Racing Big Blocks and Aluminum heads and blocks of all kinds. All I have ever wanted to build was a Chevrolet 302. But so much has changed, Like an Austin Mini using a BMW motor cycle head double over head cam 4 Carbs, Still fits under the Hood! WOW. Unfortunately as a Kid I went around and tried to help and learn about cars, and the worst thing happened! I met a Pediphile and was sexually abused at the age of 12. Just like the Motors others have built, I always need a different approach! I'm 58 now but I still have a love for cars. I found a 5.3 Aluminum LS with 75 miles on it Parted out from a 2009 Hummer. I'm going to save my money and take my time but Hopefully I will get a DynaCorn 69 Camero to Build my way! Keep the dreams alive NICK! I hope you find time for your Drive once and a while!
