Excellent briefing and explanation over technical matters !!! Great to see that a N/A S2k is still a viable option for those wanting to stay true to the original form and not go the crazy boosted route ... I personally approve and prefer your way of exploring every last drop of performance in the original Aspiration and keeping attention to all the little details that eventually add up ... Keep up the S2k videos ... They draw more attention and views i believe ....

Awesome to see someone else out there going down the same path I am. I have an all motor F22C with untouched bottom end, stock compression, and stock can that made 239whp last year with burnt exhaust valves and 220psi on each cylinder. I had the head rebuilt and refurbished to factory condition and did not shave it. I'll be installing the PLM race header in 1-2 weeks to replace my Megan V2 header, and the rest of the exhaust is nearly identical to yours. I am running the K&N true cold air intake (in the front bumper) which is one of the bigger differences we have. I'm hoping the better header and refreshed head back to 240psi on all four cylinders will be enough to put it near 250whp. And then perhaps I'll go for the Ballade or Brian Cower cams to lock it in. Tons of fun though. I loved this video because everything you described was like an identical replay of my life in the last 12 months where I experimented with several different setups, exhausts, and relentlessly browsing S2Ki to scrape together any amount of factual information that could help. The exhaust (as you know) on the S2000 is ultra finicky with even the smallest change causing the power band to shift, go up, or go down. The only thing I wish played out better was the new Ballade 70mm single exhaust (ASM remake). I placed an order back in April or May back when it was first announced, and the expected ship date was in June. They went through some delays and I think I waited until August or September before I cancelled the order and ordered the EVS SSP 70mm and custom modified it for a very very quiet street experience that sounds fantastic at 5500+ RPM. Anyway, again, loved the video. Let me know if you have an email and we can get in contact since we have nearly identical goals for our S2000's.

Thanks, Quinn for making great videos. Probably my favorite automotive channel. I love how technically detailed and no nonsense these videos get. I can really nerd out watching these. I've been following since the nb itb miata videos back a few years ago and you even offered more info to me personally when I had questions. I love the S2000 as well and love the approach to tuning this car. It's the way I would approach it as I am a fan of finely tuned n/a engines. By the way, I was wondering if you still had the RX-8 and if so, if you had more plans for further tuning. I loved that series as well and actually was hoping for more n/a rotary tuning. I know there's really not much you can do n/a with the renesis engine, but what about, say, lightened rotors, porting, or induction system tuning? Not necessarily for chasing big hp numbers, which wouldn't really be possible to do on a street rotary, unless you swapped to a 20b triple rotary (which would be missing the point of a somewhat budget build), but more for the way the engine delivers that power or increasing engine response and redline?
@TheSlipAngle3 жыл бұрын
I still have the RX-8. I've kind of exhaust the N/A mods on it without porting the engine. I'd love a 20b but they are so damn expensive now.
