I thought the Supra was in 2nd gear until I saw the dash readout passing 180km/h. It accelerates from 70-180km/h in 3 seconds that's unpossible /p.

This could also have been a problem with the mustang, that much bottom end torque and no load.

Agreed. Needs a much lower ramp. It needs to hold the cars back a LOT more. There's no way the Supra was making full power with the blast it made to 180.

yup this. Ramp rate is nuts. I wonder if the mustang has some kind of traction control going on. I have only ever used DD eddy current dynos. I could imagine an inertia dyno doing this? not sure how they adjust ramp rate. As is these numbers are even more useless than dyno numbers normally are and you wouldn't be able to gleam any useful info from these pulls if you were tuning.

Redo all four cars with a load on them, with the gear ratio closest you can get 1:1 and the numbers will read more true.

You need resistance to make power, I think the load on the dyno was too light for the Supra. But I'm no expert.

The 2JZ-GTE only makes 276hp stock, that Supra is JDM so its engine is choked down to 276 factory compared to the 320 the American and European exports got. So its still making decent power methinks.

They were rated at 276 but typically when everything is healthy usually made like 250-270whp with little to no mods due to being underquoted. That said his making 240 could be a number of things or a bad rear turbo, stuck open wastegate #2 or even a broken wastegate flapper/spool vsv.. or honestly if they haven't done a compression test could be low

First : when you install the front end, bumper goes on first, the front lights go in last. Second: your second turbo kicks in just fine, this is why you see a deviation in the curb around 3500rpm

I'd heard that in the 90's there was a gentleman's agreement between Japanese auto makers. To keep from having a HP war they capped power at 276 PS (similar to HP). Supra turbo, 300zx turbo, RX7 turbo, and Skyline GTR were all victims of the limit. Their motors are capable of a hell of a lot more though. That agreement was like how most German car companies limited car top speeds to something like 155 mph. Not sure if that's even a thing anymore. Maybe you can find out with your Merc racer... If it will start.😁

You are right, but... Officially they are 276, but in real life, all R33 were around 320 and R34 around 340.

Horsepower and torque are great numbers but in reality, compare the power to weight ratio when comparing different vehicles against each other. It is not fair to compare a high horsepower/heavy car to a medium horsepower/lightweight car.

second turbo is fine on your supra, you can see it step in on the graph, unless you have some damaged turbine wheels, i would be checking spark and boost solinoids

Change the turbo for a single turbo, exhaust system, air filters and you can bit easily 500hp on a 2JZ. Anderson from FuelTech has one with 700hp with small changes 🤷🏻‍♂️ and he's building a billet engine for that Supra

Actually, sounds like an issue with the 1st turbo, sounds kinda funky, can clearly see the 2nd turbo come online on the graph, but the first turbo sounds weird. Even if the vsv for the 2nd turbo outlet is bad, there’s a reed valve it can breathe through.

UK market Supra were 320hp with a few changes. Japanese agreement was always supposed to be 276hp, however most usually dyno in around 300 calculated at the crank on UK fuel.

Higher horsepower cars they should be tested in 5 gear, cause the have a hard time spooling the turbo on the dyno, plus the time acceleration is to short 😉

Put trans in a higher gear closer to 1:1 ratio on all the cars might be a better thing to do or make sure dyno is set for the gear or ratio you're using, you may have done this 2nd item, the pulls did seem very short.

Well, it's JDM Supra and it was limited by law to 280hp in Japan. Same as every other jdm performance car of that era. So, 237 with approximately 18-20% transmission loss gives you exactly 280hp.
