Reed, so very proud of you for going to your youth pastor. My 19 yr old son, blindsided us in Nov 2017, by taking his own life. We will never know his "why" and we do not focus on that. Jordan is in heaven. He was a believer and that is what we cling to. Knowing we will see him again BUT your dad gave you the best advice by saying that it would be the most selfish thing you could do. You are loved and created in the image of God...you were doing something right and the enemy tried to tell you otherwise. "He takes what the enemy meant for evil and He turned it for good". My heart is breaking for his mom an him also.... My son just went through this when he was station in south kora. Had Christ not worked it out to where his dad was off work due to a difficult shoulder surgery."still is" I know how Missy felt. Kind of still think how dare my baby want to take an destroy the gift that the Lord gave me an his daddy. But I stop myself an thank God for letting me keep him a little longer an not letting satan destroy him. Reed you are amazing for telling your story...I struggle with my own demons I meet both mrs kay an mr phil when I lived in west monroe la at a sober living house . Happy Father's Day and happy Sabbath day. I've followed you guys from the beginning and I appreciate the stories. I relapsed this year and spent little time getting back to a sober house. I hit 5 meetings a week in AA and go to church weekly. I've always used the Robertson family as positive tool in my life .There was one Christmas that I chose drugs and alcohol over family. I never wish that on anybody. It is awful and a complete Hell. Luckily on Christmas Day I came across the Christmas episode on Duck Dynasty . That alone got me through the day and allowed me to move forward. Thank you for that.

I can definitely relate to having suicidal thoughts and tendencies, I was getting picked on and bullied by some people in the drumline I was with and even at church I was getting bullied by the main pastor’s son just because he dated one of my sisters and he was mistreating her a lot. I was also kinda going through a breakup with a girl I went to the same church with and it really hit the nail on the coffin cause I didn’t wanna feel apart of me just die. I was about 16 years old when my family and I were celebrating my mom’s birthday at a friends house; the entire time I put on this invisible mask on my face to make it look like nothing was wrong with me and an hour and a half later I wanted to go home. My sister dropped me off at the house and I was just completely alone while feeling every emotion inside me that day, a couple minutes go by and I decided to take one of the kitchen knives and I aimed it for my heart. To this day, I swore there was a powerful force that was holding my hands back from plunging that knife into my chest and I’m glad it did happen because I knew that it was Jesus who took hold of me in what could’ve been my last time on earth. After a few weeks my parents found out 😖😖😖😖😖😖 just seeing the look on their faces just broke my soul knowing that they could’ve had one of their kids gone; for anyone who is having trouble with depression and anxiety the best route to take is reaching out for help not suicide.
