Alec. Absolutely first class. Great advice: it all fits easily if you have it correctly aligned. As a retired university lecturer I can assure you that you're a great teacher and demonstarter

Thank you for this video. You have just saved me about £80 on buying a reconditioned Dyson. I love my old DC05, and am glad to have it working again.

Just replaced motor in my DC05 in Sydney. Your video was great Alec. Motor cost me AUS $57. I needed to look at your cord retract video to get that alignment right so the case then fitted back together perfectly.... i must have dislodged it. Great work Alec. And as the retired University lecturer stated... you are a great communicator & demonstrator. .. and thanks to the person behind the camera ... especially with regards to the cord retract video.

Thanks for the video. I have ordered a replacement motor and installed it with your instructions. Now the vacuum cleaner is working again.

Fantastic followed the instructions fitted a new motor in less that ten min saved a fortune doing it myself ,and not paying someone to fix it or buying a new machine. Many thanks what most people including myself perceive to be a hard jobs really is very easy .

Thankyou. Just fitted a new mains lead to my trusty DC05. Cannot get the right flex but managed with a dc04/dc07 flex. Difficult as you explained on the re-assembly. The flex guide obstructed the closure. Took it out, fitted things together - found it easier to assemble upside down- TOP, add cable drum, add motor then add base. Screws then flex guide. Cheers.

Very good explanation. Did it like it is explained and it worked well. Thanks for the good tut. The only problem I had, was the different colors of the cables. On the new motor were red and black and on the dyson blue and brown. So, first I had to figure out how to connect them. For all that have the same problem: Black comes on brown.

Thanks heaps, it saved me accidentally busting the casing the wrong way ! I managed to salvage the original motor by machining the damaged commutator and installing new brushes, came up a treat.

Thanks for the video. My Dyson DC 5 was getting warmer and warmer and today it just stumbled and spit fire and grey stinky smoke and then died. Do you think replacing the motor would fix it or does it have another PCB etc. which could have caused this. Thanks!

Thanks for the video, it helped solve a problem. I got one in with no power, thought it was a cable reel problem and sure enough, I got it apart and could get no continuity. I tested the switch and all the leads from the cable reel just to assure myself there was only one fault. I took the top off the UK plug to make sure there was no problems with it and was stunned, the live wire was in the neutral position and the neutral cable in the ground position. There was no way they had this and it failed, this never worked, or this is a con job and they are messing with me, whichever it is it will cost them.

Just did this, super easy to do, thanks Alec. Does anyone know if popping and electrical burning in the motor could be caused by worn carbon filters in the motor? I haven't chucked the old motor yet just in case I can replace the carbon filers to fix the motor.
@jayambermsp80002 жыл бұрын
Hi. Yes, it is caused by that. I wouldn't repair the motor brushes when it goes as the damage is already done. New pattern motor are dead cheap to buy.

Hey there Just wanted to say a big thank you for your great video. Being a girl I usually pay for an annual cover for the Dyson but last year I forgot and because its old there's no hope of starting a new one. But I got myself a motor and having followed your instructions have a fully operational Dyson yet again so as you might imagine I'm feeling very pleased with myself. Think I spent more time cleaning off all the sooty grime from the casing [yuck] the only problem I have is that the post motor filter hasn't arrived. Thanks so much :-)

Thanks very helpful! Although I did end up pulling the yellow lugs out of the wheels to make it easier. I put a screw into both of the plastic lugs so I had something to grab hold of to pull them out.

Hi, the new motor has a black and red cable. The machine has brown and blue. Which connector cables go together please? Red and Blue, Black with Brown? Or Red with Black and Blue with Brown?

kzbin.info/www/bejne/l2G3Z5yHqZ1lgJY Before using brute force while heaving the wheels off (as I did), press the yellow (12 mm in diameter) "hub caps" in by about 1mm on both wheels. I used the round part of an old-style metal tire lever. Then heave as Alec does with the screw-driver. That way you'll save yourself the aggro of chipping off parts of both axles as I did ;-)
