I just did this myself thanks to your demonstration. I never would've been able to do it without your video, many thanks!

Took 15 minutes, changeover hose obliterated in three folds, no wonder i wasn't getting any suction

Awesome, glad you got it sorted, it's such a common issue! Anyone would think Dyson spend all the money they cn making everything down to such a fine price point the lifespan can literally be measured in years. What you've done is do it wrong, what you should have done is take it to the tip and. Buy a v15 outsize mk2 whatever they are nowadays (v10 with a screen). Or their so eco friendly their biodegradable. She'll be fixed now the air ducts get connected

Thank you Sam for these repair videos! I don't know that much about vacuum cleaners, yet you always have a dedication to these repairs. Please keep up the great work, people similar to you keep my vacuum interest alive!

Thank you for this video -- I literally could not have done this without watching you do it. Replacing the part is quite difficult for a non-handy person, but this video made the difference.

Awesome, glad it helped! It's one of those annoying jobs where the right way is to strip the yolk and wheels off which is a massive faff! Thank goodness for mildly bendy plastic!

That is quite genius valve design, but oh my god when it breaks. Not something what normal consumer can do and vacuum shops what repair vacuums in EU countries are rare. So basically for many people with this DC40 would be binned with that problem when the warranty is expired. Sam is real lifesaver!

It is very poor that Dyson would allow such an issue to exist and make it so difficult for the customer to change. Bad design fault. I had bought one for £10 as the customer did not want to pay Dyson £79 to repair it. What a waste it would have been if they had taken it to the rubbish tip instead of selling it.

The changeover valve hose went on our 5, almost 6 year old DC40 Animal Erp, a few months ago, so I bought a replacement hose and looked for a video on KZbin which I found but wasn't the easiest to follow, so I tried to memorise the steps and tried to figure out how to do it for myself. I got there in the end a few hours after starting, and our machine was as good as new, but I won't lie, parts of it were fiddly, so a good job I'm patient and don't give up easily 👍🏻 Wish Sam's video had been up then, as he explains how to do it brilliantly and easy to understand 👌🏻

Can be a life saver, especially when the alternative to throwing away a perfectly good vacuum is to buy a cordless stick vac nowadays 😢. Glad it helped!

Your skill always makes it look easy and your time and effort gives others (like me not so skilled) the confidence to repair and not bin an otherwise great piece of machinery Many Thanks enjoyed your video !
@beko1987 Жыл бұрын
Thanks! Skill is over selling it slightly, it's mostly repetition! The first time always sucks, the 20th is easier but if your only doing the job once (hopefully 😂) it helps to know how much things can be bent out the way!

Beautiful repair! You always make it look so easy, experience speaks volumes. I need to strip my Small Ball again, the wife sucked up some dog stuff, and it stinks now! 🤢 The head is done, as well as I can. It's the hoses and bin that are a pain!

Great video Sam. I had to do this job on our 5, almost 6 year old DC40 Animal Erp a few months ago, as I heard a hissing sound coming from the machine and noticed a split in the changeover valve hose. It took me ages to do, as I'd never done it before, but got there in the end and our machine was as good as new 😊👍🏻 I found it more fiddly than anything, particularly the screw with the washer on the right side of the ball, that you have to drop perfectly into place before you can tighten the screw, Was an easy enough fix to do though.
@beko19872 жыл бұрын
Excellent, glad it helped! Yes it's mega fiddly. But, the alternative is to strip the motor housing off the chassis, where it becomes superbly accessible 😂 But takes about 40 minutes longer...
@Angelicawinters11 ай бұрын
I used needlenose to put the washer in place and a magnetic screwdriver held the screw well enough to put in with a bit more control than dropping it :)

I think this is what I need to do with mine, however opposite to your description, mine works with the hose but doesn't suck when you push it, do I still.need to do the same?

Possibly, ior it's jammed somehow. Take the filter ball cover off and you can see what it's doing

Do you know anyone looking for a cheap Dyson cordless? I’m in High Wycombe and have a V7 Motorhead and V8 for £80 each. Batteries just don’t last on Max mode!
