Wonder if it's still running on isobutanol like in the ALMS days. Shame it really didn't perform that well in the ALMS, especially in like the few races they tried then (oh god no oh god no) Flybrid flywheel system.

The current Mazda DPi prototypes are completely mental as well, and are consistently the fastest cars in their class. The only problem right now is overall reliability.

Because of the Porsche's V4, which has an Identical firing order of this mazda, plus, inline 4 sound like this normally, but Porsche V4 is a different story here

Not similiar, Porsche 919 is more Heavy and Deep like sound than that. Porsche 919 is more similiar like Toyota TS050

The are similarities indeed
@singleturbosupra79514 жыл бұрын
It really shouldn't be surprising that two engines with similar number of cylinders, dislplacement and aspiration type are going to sound quite similar to each other. Those traits, plus firing order are pretty much the only things that majorly affect engine sound.

Got to spend a day with the Dyson team at Sebring 2013. What an amazing experience. Tragic how ALMS was gutted. I hope they can revive that series so I can take my son to some of the races.

Having heard the latest AER engine in the Mazda I have to say that the lag reducer sounds just like the new engine and similar to some SUPER GT cars. This car was not a great race car compared to the Honda Muscle Milk V8 LMP1.

David Stone the Muscle Milk car was incredibly dominant, and sounded absolutely bonkers. Probably one of the coolest sounding prototypes on track for those few years.

Eu desconhecia totalmente esse carro com este motor. Imaginava que nos tempos recentes a porsche é quem tivesse voltado a se aventurar nos motores 4 em linha na lmp1. Nice video, as always.

-I highly doubt the 2010+ spec Mazda MZR-R produces 500hp. Dyson Racing has refined the engine since 2010, increasing the RPMs and making their cars faster. so fast that it was then classified under the LMP1 regulation starting 2011. and it's impossible for a 500hp engine to be that fast. my guess is it has at least 550(less probable) or at least 600hp(more probable) while revving higher (from up to about 7k rpm to about 8-9k)- nevermind, I completely forgot that the LMP1 before 2011 had massive restrictors. the 2011+ LMP1 made about the same lap times as the previouses LMP2. but the Mazda MZR-R 2012+ indeed revs higher. about 8500rpm(if I have to guess)
@andrelima51244 жыл бұрын
At this point I just enjoy the fact that racecars still have an exhaust note This one sounds good but I feel it could rev for 2K rpms higher to sound spot on....either way reminds me of the 919 a little !

The current LMP2, DPIs etc are nothing compared to the LMP1 cars. So much more interesting than the almost spec cars that run these days.
@griffinfaulkner35144 жыл бұрын
Have you *seen* the current Mazda DPi? You know, the car that broke a Daytona lap record that had stood for decades and is far and above the most beautiful prototype in existence?
@simoneburini40363 жыл бұрын
Give me the almost-spec-cars any day, if it's the only way to escape from the whole BOP thing. I think that this year I'll be watching (apart from MotoGP and MXGP) F1, Indycar, WRC, NASCAR and IMSA (for the prototypes, not for the GTs) only. Maybe SuperGT, but idk... I have mixed feelings about the success ballast system.

Does anyone know why v4 and not h4 or i4? Lowest center of gravity and vibration is h4. To me it only is because of the length of intake headers... That's my guess!

flat engines takes too much space width-wise
@jareknowak87124 жыл бұрын
Yes, V is the best compromise bt centre of gravity, packaging, and headers. IRL the best possible is the wide angle V, like more than 100 deg, depends on number of cylinders.
