This is definitely the best step by step tutorial to clean/fix the dyson hair dryer. Mine just starts sounding strange today and time to clean it myself. Though I am not sure whether I have an elegant way to take off the bottons as well as glue them back on.
@tiporari2 жыл бұрын
That's an electric ducted fan. Precision fit between blades and housing improves efficiency. The bearings in the motor sound dry or galled. Not long for this earth. If you could disassemble and oil them you might get more life. Despite the outrageous price of Dyson goods, the motor and fan assembly is cheaply made. If a replacement motor/EDF assembly is available buy one while you can.

In a production assembly line, the last thing you want is all screws from different sizes. Same as having filters with different shapes. Each one is a different part number, more stock, more parts .... I dont think this add to the quality of the product at all, but it is clear how they are fighting the serviceability. Next step should be ultrasonic welding in the handle .... porobably they didnt go this way because the "filters" can be "replaced" ... LOL. Excellent fix Vince, you dont give up easily !!!!!

I agree with the other comment, they don't. I just did a video on repairing the fan heater, and a cool fan. The cool one had 3 faults, but I managed to fix all 3. The fan heater (hot and cool) ended up being a no fix due to the MCU being fried, and the PCB's are no longer available....

After 2 years I think it's done well, motor bearings might be a bit dry and worn, but that's just to be expected. It doesn't matter how many filters the manufacturers fit, through time the dust always get's through. Vaccum cleaners are notorious for the motors etc getting coated with a hard coating of dust and gunge making them noisy and ineficient. Good vid of the dissasembly though Ray

I have a love-hate relationship with this product. It is good at what it does, but the failure rate on these is astronomical. They always have thousands of them available refurbished, which I assume are ones that customers returned as defective. I also have multiple friends who have had them fail just outside of the warranty period. It seems Dyson is using pretty low end components and relying on marketing to keep people coming back.

This video is a proof of why buying this appliance is an exercise you're going to repeat on a regular basis... barely two years and it's already struggling. There is a fine polymer material filter inside not designed to be serviced. Since it's going to fill and obstruct with use, filtering fine dust particles especially exfoliation, it's going to jam pretty good rather quickly with no way of user cleaning. That might cause overheating and blowouts when the air flow will be insufficient. Worst still... the filter has been clearly defeated by hair which is not supposed to happen. Moreover that motor is not going to have a long lifespan running that hard in such a poor environment. Learnt lesson: I am the most unlikely customer Dyson will ever have.

Full of Dyson serviceability traps. Hidden internal (not) lifetime filters, components attached in a way to make disassembly difficult or to deter trying. Hair getting past the screen filter I can see happening if hair aligned up with the holes in it. So some could be expected to get into the body of the machine, but the hair being able to get past the hidden internal filters and into the motor to me is quite concerning. How many of these get put in the bin because of this.
