I cannot believe so many people need to replace the Dyson trigger. A $500 vacuum lasted 4 years before. Great video and I was able to follow along each step. While getting the three wires back through, the end metal connector did break off. I manipulated it a lot because I was having so much trouble. Well - I almost made it. Thanks again!

Thank you very much for this video!! I took my Dyson to the repair shop and they said they couldn’t get the part (trigger). I saw it’s available on this video and did the repair myself (I recommend getting the repair kit if you don’t have a long #1 and T8 screw drivers).

Thank for the video. I managed to get a "All Metal" switch and although a little stiff locating onto the lugs, it could be lightly squeezed back square after mounting. The only real awkward part was removing the trigger assembly in the first place. Refitting it, I found easier bending the lugs to 45deg approx. All went together well and we are up and at 'em again.

Brilliant video - very clear. Thanks for posting. I did run into an issue - must be what i did. When i finished replacing the trigger and put the connections back in for the cables and then put the batttery back in with the filter, the power went on automatically and remained on. I must have messed up something with the connections. Do you know what it might be?

5:44 I broke the plastic tabs on this plastic piece. Will the 2 screws hold it in place with the tabs broken? If not, where can I order that part?

I accidentally ripped the white and black wires off the board. I thought I stuffed it up but I tried putting it back to the two holes and it seems to be working and charging fine. Would you know what the two wires are for if I will have any issues later down the track?

Hey thank you for the video! I’m having a problem though: the very last t8 screw (the one you have to reach with a long and thin screwdriver) is somehow stuck, I can loosen it but not remove it. Any idea what to do? There is so little space there. Thank you

I had a similar problem, I couldn't re-tighten it. It turned out the plastic moulding in the trigger housing it is supposed to screw into had broken off. I just ordered a replacement housing on eBay it arrived in a week from China, £20 new, and it works! There were others more expensive, and used genuine housings but the Chinese replica worked fine.

Hey thank you! Yes for future reference that’s exactly what happened to me, had to order that part too.

I made the repair, but nothing happened when I pressed the switch. The reason: the new lever is a little too long. As soon as I put the battery in, it turns on. The reason it didn't seem to turn on at the first try was because if the switch was "pressed" without a filter, it doesn't turn on automatically when a filter is put on afterwards (I have the older version without LCD). If I put the filter on first and then put the battery in, it starts the motor. I'm now wondering if I can find a solution without having to take everything apart again and shorten the lever - but it looks like I'll have to do that.
@martinpucher85854 ай бұрын
I took it apart again, filed it down a bit and put it back together - IT WORKS NOW! I could start with Dyson, now it's a breeze to take it apart and put it back together. Not 100% sure if it was the filing or if I didn't screw the switch part in far enough the first time. No matter the reason it works now and I'm happy and feel like a hero!

Glad to hear it worked out for you. My level measured identical to the one I eemoved
@aeast566615 күн бұрын
@martinpucher8585 I had something similar, when i'd replaced the trigger and reassembled the cleaner, it was turning itself on whilst in the charging unit and I couldn't switch it off until I removed the filter. I realised the sprung trigger is supposed to press against the sprung battery switch, so it requires a delicate balance. I hadn't realised it was just the new trigger was slightly longer, but that makes sense. However I didn't need to take it apart again and file it down. I simply loosened the 3 screws holding the battery in. I was able to just make sure the single screw in the trigger handle was correctly lined up with the hole in the battery inside it. That ensures the battery is in the correct place lined up with the trigger unit. It means the battery is not fitting snugly at the base of the trigger housing, but it doesn't need to. You can then tighten the 2 screws at the other end of the battery as tight as before. This means the battery is securely attached, but just held a little further from the trigger inside the housing. And it now works!

This is a nightmare from repair perspective. I did cleaning and service of my older Dyson vacuum and it was as bad as your newer cordless model. Their stuff is nice and shiny when new and promoted heavily, but PITA to maintain when few years old. Now I went back to ordinary vacuum with paper bags.
