In 1988 I took my daughter to her first concert when she was 9. The tickets cost $20 each and I only had $40. We were standing in line, hoping to get last minute tickets to get in,when a lady came up to us and gave me two tickets close to the stage. So I then had money to buy my daughter a T-shirt ,some pop and candy. Debbie Gibson was only 17 at the time and it was a fantastic show. The last song was ' Foolish Beat' and she rose up from under the stage playing a white piano. A cherished memory. 🤗

Can't you see I'm not fooling nobody Don't you see the tears are falling down my face Since you went away Break my heart, you slipped away Didn't know I was wrong Never meant to hurt you now you're gone Oh oh oh oh oh There was a time when Broken hearts and broken dreams Were over There was a place where All you could do was Wish on a four-leaf clover But now is a new time There is a new place Where dreams just can't come true It started the day when I left you (oh) I could never love again the way that I loved you (oh) I could never cry again like I did when I left you And when we said goodbye Oh, the look in your eyes Just left me beside myself without your heart (without your heart) I could never love again now that we're apart When I was sorry It was too late to turn around (turn around) And tell you so There was no reason There was no reason Just a foolish beat of my heart I could never love again the way that I loved you (oh) I could never cry again like I did when I left you And when we said goodbye Oh, the look in your eyes Just left me beside myself without your heart (without your heart) I could never love again now that we're apart Oh, can't you see I'm not fooling nobody? Don't you see the tears are falling down my face? Since you went away Break my heart, you slipped away Didn't know I was wrong Never meant to hurt you now you're gone Oh oh oh Do, do, do, do, do, do Oh oh oh oh oh Oh oh oh oh oh oh Oh oh oh oh I could never love again Now that we're apart Now that we're apart, oh I could never love again Now that we're apart

I loved Debbie Gibson from the very beginning. Saw her perform live at a small dance club in Cleveland, OH I think in 1986 or 87. I even got to meet and talk with her and her mom afterward. Still have a picture of Debbie with me and a buddy. A couple years later she was huge and saw her at Blossom Music Center near Akron. My friends and I had front row seats. This was before cellphone cameras were a thing and taking pictures at concerts was forbidden. I smuggled a disposable camera into the concert duct taped to my leg. Took a bunch of pics during the concert until security saw me and confiscated the camera. Lol, I am still sore about that 🙂
