Great video! I had a front break noise problem. And exactly as you showed fixed it. Disc brakes were a bit intimidating at first. Now the actually seem simpler and easier to adjust than the older styles. Also a great tip on the dry chain point and where to lube the chain. Thank you!!😀🙏

Thank you very much for your hints and advice 👍👍👍. Is there a new video eventually planned about changing the chainring to a smaller one for a Bosch CX motor? Is ist possible, that some problems could occur with the Bosch motor management, if the minimal gear ratio is changed under the allowed data?

Try squirt lube wax and you dont have to degrease your chain. Just lube, clean the chain with a cloth and let it dry. No more black goo on the chain or on the derailleur. And the chains last a lot longer with squirt lube wax. Just wish i found out this sooner. 😀👌

I have a small electric bike that is brand new that will not turn on unless it is hooked up to the charger. When I have it plugged in it will turn on and it shows a full battery and horn honks but no throttle. When unplugged nothing will turn on. Totally dead. Any advice??

Never use chain degreaser. You will find all chain mfg.'s say never to use degreasers, not even citrus. They remove lube applied at the factory, between plates, that cannot e replaced. Besides that, I love this video.

@@islandaerial3414 so glad to meet someone that knows so much more than any chain mfg.'s. I have many customers, almost all, getting that kind of range out of even ten speed chains and not doing any cleaning at all. I don't recommend it at all and they will eventually pay for it cassette and chain ring wear, but then so are you. BTW, you've been doing it about as many KM's as I rode every year until I retired.

its not a problem. I clean mine with degreaser regularly. I think he made that bit up.

Certain degreasers contaminate brake pads and drastically decrease braking performance. It's ok if cleaner gets on your disc, but we wouldn't recommend degreaser

I like to use a cable tie to hold brake lever tension instead of a hand.... this technique is really useful especially when ‘centering’ the rear brake pads..
@DonaldMays
@DonaldMays Жыл бұрын
lol cables do stretch on a bike comparing them to a barge is no comparison after thousands of bike repairs, cables do stretch and continue to stretch until they fail. the cheaper the bike the less likely they will not be made with stainless steel. if you have seen a spoke stressed till breaking it stretches at the weakest point. Pull your cable brakes too hard the cable stretches until the lever touches the bar but when you check the clamp bolt the cable is in the same position. We at the shop use to prestretch the brake cables before the bike left the shop i doubt most of the riders on this channel have much experience with cable brakes other than throwing them away
@jamesuk9
@jamesuk9 3 жыл бұрын
modern gear cables DO NOT stretch. This is a myth. Once they have bedded in and been adjusted after a few hundred miles it will never need doing again. Please stop with the nonsense.
@samhalsey5051
@samhalsey5051 3 жыл бұрын
Dude that’s what he’s talking about! The one stretch! My Vado has 500 miles on it and I don’t get one gear. Because the cable stretched. After that yes they’ll likely be fine for a very long time so the gears will work probably and of course you won’t have to apply his excellent advise. He is just giving an easy fix.

Hey James, 'Bedding in' is the stretch we're talking about. Once the cable has done this once, it will not continue to do so. This is what Chris is refferring to, not a constant stretch, but a single stretch from new.
