I'm checking my ebike monthly. I have a request for you guys: Could you please make a video with specific products that can be used for maintainance (what water repelent, what grease for wheels, pedals, bearings, what tool for unbend the brake rotors, ....)? Thank you.

I finally figured out why you use those little mud guards on the fork. Keeps muck away from the seals. Duh 🤦♀ Keep an eye out for rust leaking out of pivot bearings. I carry an old toothbrush for the odd fowling of my derailleur. Put some duct tape over your brakes and around your battery to keep water and muck out. I also tape up some of the holes on my skid plate, works great to keep muck out 😉

first yamaha pw motor here with over 8700km (5700miles) on it and still runs like new. no faffing about with flashy features. shure it may be a tad louder than newer motors and shure it may not like cadences over 85-90 rpm and it is a bit bulkier and heavier but that shure as hell isnt a bad thing due to one thing and that is durability. much more thermal headroom due to more thermal mass and much bigger and thicker gears inside. thats why i prefer yamaha. technology that just works

I’ve went tubeless about 6 months ago. How exactly do you check how much sealant is in your tires? Also seems like I can’t get a tire pressure reading since going tubeless. Do I have to replace the valve cores every so often too or just clean them.
@mikerbwind3 жыл бұрын
Shake the wheel....nothing sloshing around in there means it needs a top up. ...and yes sealant eventually blocks valve cores.
@embn3 жыл бұрын
We'd echo what Mike said! Although a good alternative is to pop one side of the tyre off to visually inspect the sealant level. Then make a judgement from there. 👍

Wonder what is the life span of an ebike? It has been 2 years with my levo 1 gen 2 motor blown and 3 years of warranty left. Should i keep it or should i sell it?
@SimonBauer73 жыл бұрын
the levos brose motor has a belt drive internally which makes it nice and quiet/light but also is less durable than the motors from yamaha/bosch/shimano that all have gear driven internals and no belt that can break. it really depends are you someone that keeps his bikes until they break or do you change them more regularly. if its the former id say it depends on the price you get for the levo and what you can get from another manufacturer for the money it it is comparable. if it is the latter stick with the levo you still got warranty so they have to pay for the motor. for you it is free besides annoyance.

I've just bought my first EBike and actually it's a ETrike. So the motor, battery, leads, control unit, tyres, wheels x 3, brakes and drive train, before I get 1 of 3 flat tyres (my luck it'll be 3 at the same time) ! Gees my heads spinning. And just to maintain this ETrike? I give my car regular oil changes, fluid level checks incl transmission in the maintenance schedule. So, I may take this thing back for a refund, serieously.

All of the motor systems need warranties beyond the original owner and should be 3 year min, as they are all prone to be easily damaged with water ingress. They are getting better but are not fit for the current use offroad or for intended lifespan. At the minute I think they all stand on a par with F1 motors rather than the washing machine motors.

@@SimonBauer7best I got is 5000 out of my shimano and you still have 3/4 to go mate,but if yamaha have built theirs to be heavier duty then it should be the way to go for all brands rather than reducing a few grams of weight with lighter components etc so it might look good on paper and perhaps for the fashion police
@SimonBauer73 жыл бұрын
@@seakayak4425 there is a teardown online the gears especcially the final drive one look really solid especcially when compared to the bosch of the same generation. the bosch looks less solid inside. also you have to rember that yamaha makes motorcycles so they have experience designing drivetrain stuff. as far as heavy duty goes yes i prefer that over any lightness/software crap but that will never happen as manufacturers want to sell you stuff so it shouldnt last too long
