Micro models have gone from being hard to fly, heavy, and extremely delicate to what we have now, tiny models that rival 2 meter span gliders in stability, weight next to nothing and can handle a few abrupt arrivals. Could the ASK 21 from E-flight be one of the best ARTF micro gliders around?

It's a bind and fly, so you need to supply your own DSM2/DSMX transmitter, this is great if you fly more than one model as you can use one nice transmitter for all your models rather than a cheap and nasty for each. From Spektrum the DX6i will work nicely, and while I've not tried it the Orange T-SIX transmitter might work too. Both have 10 model memories, so you can use them with 10 models without having to set them up each time.

Yes, but consider if you end up getting another model you'll also find you'll want to buy another transmitter. The DX5e sell for about £50 new, the DX6i for £85. So for the £35 difference you'll be able to use the one transmitter with 10 models.

Measure out and mark the CG position under the wing either side of the fuselage, then support the model on 2 finger tips positioned on the marks, move the battery fore and aft until the model is level.

The usual drill, a couple of hand launches on a calm day to make sure it flies straight, then go for slope, as long as it's not to gusty I'm sure you'll do fine.

The model has a servo for the nose hook yes, 2:44 if you're using the high start it just slips off the belly hook.

Cool little plane. Is it difficult to see it in flight at all?
@RCMojoTV
@RCMojoTV 11 жыл бұрын
That all depends on how far away it is... Being so small you need to keep it quite a bit close than the average 2 meter, but with that considered visibility isn't too bad at all.

The model has to balance at the right point on the wing, there is a small amount to leeway, if you move it rearwards the model will be less stable and a bit more aerobatic, too far back and it'll become very prone to stalling. If it's a bit forward the model will be more stable, too far and it'll glide like a brick. This is all roughly speaking of course, and the AS3X system masks most problems. So best bet is to get it to balance as close to spot on as you can and fly it.

With some lift, thermal or slope, I've flown the 25 minute timer out several times.

Nice video, but would this plane be recomendable as a first rc plane, counting in the fact that this particular biginner has flown the full-scale version? thanks in advance

If you've never flown RC before something with power would be a better bet, it'll allow you to cruise at a steady speed and altitude while you get the hang of things like nose in flight. It would also allow full concentration to be applied to the flying rather than worrying about finding lift. Having said that, the little ASK 21 is a good stable model, on calm days it really can fly itself!

Thank you, that makes sense, but what would you recomend? i have primarily looked for scale, 4 channel plane, but haven't found anything that's as cheap as the UMX's.

Severijn van Lambalgen You could get away with the Carbon Cub, it's stable enough. However, larger models naturally fly better, are more stable, and are more predictable in wind. The best electric trainer in my opinion is the Multiplex Easy Star 2, it's not as low cost as the UMX models, but it makes for a far better first aircraft, they also thermal rather nicely, I've had hour long flights chasing the red kites around thermal to thermal with my older Easy Star. It's up to you of course, if you're careful, take it easy, and pick a flat calm evening, the carbon cub is the best model that fits your specs.

Ok, thank you very much. I've asked multiple people but this is by far the best advice i've gotten. Keep it up with the good video's :)
