I was out at my club field this morning flying my Valiant 1.2 and T-28 1.1 and a guy showed up with a Commander. I've always loved the look of this plane and watched your earlier video on this model. Hi Brian. Happy Easter to you and yours. I love that Commander! I had one and enjoyed it so much. I was only flying mine on 3s 2200 batteries and it did an okay job. Not near as fast as you were just going but very flyable though. Unfortunately I crashed mine doing things I wasn't ready to do and not practiced up for. Low inverted pass and a wind gust caught me and I panicked and straight up into a downward dive. It was destroyed! No fixing that one. I saved what I could and plan to buy another one for this season. I lost all of last year because I was diagnosed with throat cancer 😢 I spent 8 months of last year down. 4 surgeries and a little over a month in a Pittsburgh hospital and now I'm cancer free. I lost my voice box and my ability to talk but I'm still here to fly buddy 😊 I'm just nervous it's been awhile and I'm rusty. Putting tons of hours on realflight trying to get back to where I was. So happy to see the Commander and Air Tractor added to realflight this update. Well be safe

Almost added a Colby Killing zone to the runway😊 I like the Commander. I really wish it came with LEDs. I've got reservations about digging into a new plane to put lights in. I usually wait until it's been glued and taped back to life before making "Capitol Improvements" to my planes. But, this one might be a candidate. I have that airplane. Picked it up last month. Ditched the pants and went with bigger wheels as our club field is midwest crab grass. Flys like its on rails. Flaps are a plus. 4S it has great vertical and speed. Nice revisit!

Thanks! Love this plane too. I heard one other guy who pulled the pants off and swapped on 3" wheels, canted the gear forward and really helped with nose overs on grass ops too.

I seem to remember that plane cartwheeling across the grass after an evil shoot of hay grass reached up, out of nowhere (obviously), and grabbed a wing. Might explain one or two clicks of that trim... Ive watched that video 20 times. It makes me feel better about clipping a fence post or basketball hoop with my Maule 👍

My elixir, I'm hesitating buying the SWS TT evo because I just know as soon as I do the next SWS is bound to be the Commander ( I hope) It's strange it's not available in the UK. I agree a fantastic plane,my fav. Off grass I had to remove pants and swop the 2.5" wheels for 3.5" and angled undercarriage forward a tad, still have to hold full up while taxi otherwise noses over.

That's a great idea on the landing gear. I know these wheel pants can be a real pain on grass ops, but for me, I just need to get my field flattened out - it's like landing on the moon! Did you pull off the aluminum and bend it forward in a vice, or just replace it with something canted forward a bit more?

Brian, great video as always. My flying club has a grass runway only. So, what’s your opinion on buying this plane if I had to use it on grass only. Would I be flipping it over on every takeoff and landing? Would you recommend removing the wheel pants and putting larger wheels on it?

Thanks, but you can get better than me. It's probably easier than you think...if you fly on a simulator every night for 15 minutes, I bet you'd pass me up in a year. It's crazy how much about this sport comes down to practice. P.S. I know what you're saying about the NX10 vs NX8 vs NX7e - 7e is gonna get you a LONG way, but if you think about the difference in price, about $250 to the 10...you'll be spreading that cost over many planes, in the long run. Maybe let say 20 planes, if we're being conservative, or about $27.50 per plane cost basis...it's not nothing, but it becomes a rounding error over time, and if you plan to be in this hobby for a while, you will NEVER look back at a Tx purchase and think...I wish I had saved some cash on that - I promise, really speaking from experience on this detail. NOW, let's do the NASTY math that Spektrum doesn't want you to do... Let's say instead, same 20 planes, you get the NX7e for $300 (ish) for 10 planes, you're $30 per plane, then you get the NX10, since you NEED the channels in 1 year - guess what, now the nominal cost of the Tx becomes $55 for the second 10 planes in a similar circumstance. See what I'm talking about??? This math is the "selling point" they don't want us to talk about. Of course they want you to get the NX7e...you'll end up with the NX10 or maybe even the IX20 at some point, but between friends, you don't want to chase good money after bad. If you're IN it...get what you need. If you're still QUESTIONABLE, NX7e is fine... If it's a RTF with DSMX, DSM2 - Spektrum Rx, YES...but if it's some other Rx, then you would need to swap out the Rx or multipurpose brick rx

The Dx6e . But forward programming won’t show up unless you’re connected to the plane . And as long as the plane is equipped with an avian esc . You should be good to go

I’ve personally moved away from E-flite and all my RC money goes to MotionRC and Freewing. Eflite is like a toy in comparison, just my opinion.

To all their own. Freewing does seem like a great lineup! We just kinda wish MotionRC would stop giving us the middle finger! It's gotten very old after almost a decade. We'd LOVE to work with Freewing and Flightline products! Then we could use this as additional basis for comparison, and really run with it, but MotionRC is the most closed fisted company we've ever considered and/or tried working with. To be clear, I was a customer of MotionRC, and never remember having a bad experience personally, but admittedly, this was quite a long time ago. I can say we've heard tons of terrible things over the years...much of which we can't even discuss due to various gag orders and threats of defamation suits against their "enemies" (aka someone who had a "falling out" with them). They are NOT the company you think they are...and that's NOT to say anything bad about Freewing, Flightline, or any of the other brands they carry...this is just a MotionRC issue. I wish I could report differently, but to date, our entire experience aside from the two planes we got years ago, has been bad, worse, or being the recipients of "FU" from them to us, even though we've gone to bat for them for such a long time and just didn't talk about these things...but over time, these "stories" have gotten much more believable. It's a real bummer too, but what can we do? I don't want you to think I'm trying to attack YOU in any way for buying a good product from a company that treats you well, if that's what you have going on, but what I do want to do is help you understand they're not the squeaky clean company of "do-gooders" that they pretend to be. They are WAY worse than any other brand we've worked with, and we've worked with loads of them. P.S. I think Wes is a great, hard working guy, and my complaints generically are against the leadership at MotionRC - they have HIS hands tied, and will likely eventually screw him and his family too, if it works out like it's worked out for every other person who's worked with MotionRC. Hope this helps, but I realize it may fall on deaf ears, if you love Freewing, as you mentioned you do - remember, they are a DISTRIBUTOR, they aren't the owners, or operators of Freewing...they just have exclusive distribution rights here.
