Holy #$%^, that was awesome! I just came back from the field with mine. 40 minutes on two batteries, this thing is just sick!

Thanks man! :D Those are some great flight times! I am waiting for the wind to die down today to get some more flight time in with mine today. This weekend didn't leave much time for fun due to weather and other plans.
@marh41510 жыл бұрын
***** I hear that! The wind was perfect tonight, so I felt comfortable flying it higher than I usually do. Today was my highest flight too, probably around 250 feet, so I was able to just circle and ride the wind for what seemed like forever. Awesome!
@GBLynden10 жыл бұрын
That is what I like about it too! It just sits there floating in the air and it is really relaxing. I am still looking for the perfect lawn chair to lay down while I am flying it to take the tension off of my neck lol

Still the best vid of UMX Radian on youtube. ijust wanna know did u ever loose tranmission with dx6i when u fly that high or is there anyway to know u are reaching maximum trasnmitter range? so what happens if it goes above range?
@scottfirman8 жыл бұрын
That was amazing! great job even trying to keep it in frame. I just ordered me one . I got five bucks off on it so happy happy me.I cant wait to get it now. I need to get spare batterys,but looks like I wont need many. I want to get a UMX Beast also. I have a farm field to fly the big boys but wanted something small for in the back yard. looks like I may not be flying it much from the back yard after all.

I hope you like it! I will pass your positive feedback onto the camera woman. She did do a great job :D

Surpised how high you got it there.. i always think its going to lose connection. Umx Radian is such a ggod little glider
@GBLynden4 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I do not recommend doing this for a lit of reasons (It is now against the law to go over 400) feet, and I nearly lost it shortly after shooting these videos because of an updraft..

I have one of these little gems. It's much fun. My first plane. I purchased it with 3 extra batteries. How long will they last? Not flight time, but how many flights?
@GBLynden10 жыл бұрын
Labby Rodent It depends on what brand you bought and how you take care of them. I have had some that have lasted 100's and some that have lasted 10-15. The good news is these are cheap if you buy the right ones (Not E-flite) makes it less stressful. The other things that helps with this plane is that if you are keeping your flight times below 10 minutes, that will be less taxing than it would be on say a Parkzone P-51 Ultra Micro.
@L48R0D3N710 жыл бұрын
***** The ones I bought are all E-Flite. How do you take care of them? When you say less than 10 minutes, I assume that's under power. I try to glide as much as I can with this plane, only using power to get it back up again. What brand of LiPo's do you recommend?
@GBLynden10 жыл бұрын
Labby Rodent A few of the"rules" are never drain them more than 20% of capacity, never store them fully charged, and if you do need to store them, drain them to between 40-60% of their capacity. And I meant total flight time. The AS3X is always active and drains the battery. I just float around with running the motor maybe two minutes out of the 10 minutes flights. You could probably get away with 10-15 minutes of flight, but that may risk battery life.

Hi, I got it !!. Now I have one of this !. What you would say is the maximum air speed this plane should handle?. I don't wanna take the risk of loose it... :-)
@GBLynden10 жыл бұрын
That is great! You can go full throttle and it won't hurt the plane, but I don't recommend going all out because it will hurt the cheap motor over time. The worst thing you can do it put it in a huge dive because that will likely snap the tender wings that help it glide so well.
@AHLive21510 жыл бұрын
What tx do you use. I purchased the dx5e only because it's my first and I got a good deal. Long story short I got 2 brand new for about $50 ups messed up during the holidays.
@GBLynden10 жыл бұрын
ham6817 I used the DX6i with it in this video. The DX5E should work fine, but keep it in close to get used to the plane. It can climb very quickly and get away from you if you aren't careful. GB

Well that's just plain kool. Looks like $90 well spent. I'm waiting on my first plain to arrive by Fedex....won't be here till the 17th.???? Is this plane too hard for a beginner cause I'm getting pretty antsy!
@GBLynden9 жыл бұрын
Rick9482 This could potentially work for a beginner. The biggest key is what radio you will be using. This thing could get sucked up into a thermal really easy because it is that great of a glider, so you will need a full range radio like the DX6 if you don't already have one. What plane in coming via FedEx? GB
@GBLynden9 жыл бұрын
Rick9482 PS: It is some of the best RC money I have every spent, so yes, it was $90 very well spent :)
@Rick94829 жыл бұрын
***** I have the Sport Coub S2 coming from Hobbyzone. Didn't even know about the Radian when I ordered but glad it's coming in anyway. The Radian strikes me as entry into gliding....a whole different ballgame. Already got a DX6, just needed that entry level plane to iron all those orientation issues. I still crash a lot in simulators because of orientation problems. Right now I'm trying to concentrate on only one side of the wing instead of the whole plane. I think it's helping until I get distrac......oh shit, I just crashed again.
@GBLynden9 жыл бұрын
Rick9482 I am glad you are getting in some SIM time. With that radio, I think the UMX Radian will be as good as any trainer will be actually. It is slow and forgiving yet fun! I flew mine today and depending on how the video turned out I will have a new UMX Radian video up soon. GB

I absolutely love my mini Radian! Pure flying goodness and so relaxing... I was very pleasantly surprised by how well it flies and how it deals with a bit of wind. Great little aircraft.

Would this plane work good with the Dx5e.
@GBLynden10 жыл бұрын
ham6817 It most certainly could! I have never used one with it, but it should work just fine.
@joeguinness895110 жыл бұрын
Is this a good first plane?
@GBLynden10 жыл бұрын
I will answer that by saying year and no. If you already have a nice radio like a DX6i or better then yes. If you are starting from scratch, I would say a Hobbyzone Champ is a better way to go or even a bigger trainer if you live in a windy area.
@weasele110 жыл бұрын
Can I use the same radio for the champ with that it's a dsm2
@GBLynden10 жыл бұрын
Technically you can, but one big thermal and your plane will be lost. You pretty much need a full-range radio for this plane.

i have been looking for some help on setup any suggestions
@GBLynden10 жыл бұрын
Just enjoy it and secure the wing with a little extra tape. The CG isn't too sensitive, so just experiment with it. Also, don't fly it with a toy controller. Use a real full-range one like a DX6i. Good luck!

ya im running a dx7s but i do agree on some extra tape for the wings thanks for the quick reply -have fun be safe !

You are way above 400ft.... oh wait it's not an drone. Carry on.... it's legal.
@GBLynden8 жыл бұрын
+John F Hendry Actually I am closer to 400ft (possibly below) than I am 500ft in this video. When you zoom my camera all of the way back it makes things look MUCH farther away than they actually are ;)
@JohnFHendry8 жыл бұрын
+GBLynden Well it doesn't matter since it's not a drone per the FAA;-) And at 43 grams spread out in foam I don't think there's much to be concerned about. I just got one and it's an amazing glider for it's size and can handle the wind quite well. Eflite did a great job designing it. Going to do the AS3X on/off mod and that will make it fly quite a bit better as the min sink rate takes a hit by the AS3X doing its job so soon I'll have the best of both modes.
@GBLynden8 жыл бұрын
John F Hendry It is a great plane! Look at my other videos to get an idea of how to make the bottom more visible too. It is so thin from behind that it can be lost in a bright sky.
@JohnFHendry8 жыл бұрын
***** I added two extra red stripes on the bottom right wing and that side top's tip I filled in the yellow with red. The shape of the wing is better than my other polyhedral wings that are much flatter so find the visual orientation much better than expected due to it's small size and am going to mod the fount red light so you can see it through the cooling vent better. Too bad it's not mounted up front with a clear prop to pick up some light as then it would be easy to see the heading at a distance in all pitch angles coming at you. Really like having lights and fly mostly at night now, let's me se a 65mm quad many times further away that in the daytime and the small LEDs like the one used on the FCB are visible in the daytime. 4 tiny LEDs placed so you only see one color per view frame adds almost no weight and that's the next visual orientation mod I'll make disabling the red LED on the FCB to save energy. Shame to just have the red LED stuck inside hidden from view. Well time to go burn a few batteries... have fun.
@GBLynden8 жыл бұрын
John F Hendry You have fun too and LED's are a good idea! :)
