Beautiful farrier work, well balanced. I bet you this horse moves amazingly. Just wish some people would do some further research why horses are shod using this method before trying do rubbish a professionals work. Don't try and judge what you don't know.

So you're rasping the wall, and not the sole, right?

I shoe horses for 33 years, I don't agree with the shoe size and type, I don't understand how you have that position,

I thought the shoe was supposed to fit the entire hoof. There was a little hang over on the toe. (Im not a farrier. Just 'thought'. Im not bashing. Just curious.) 😁

You can't remove that much toe at one shot, it will weaken the hoof. You simply dress it so that it won't drag the ground.

A lot of this work is based on Gene’s study and research on the wild mustangs. They naturally have the break over point behind where most shoes fit. By moving the break over point back on the hoof, you reduce the pressure on the deep digital flexor tendon. The overhang is rasped back and it is merely cosmetic and a lot of people are not used to seeing it. I used this regularly on horses that have hoof distortion but it is actually better for the horse in my professional opinion. Been a farrier for 28 years now and have been to Gene’s clinic. He has done amazing research and work towards improving equine soundness.

@@sheepdawg6946 I used to shoe leaving the toe long and covering the whole foot so there was no hoof overhang at the toe or anywhere else. It's not a bad way, but it can sometimes cause foot forward syndrome especially if the shoes are left on too long. This can make the heels bend under and that can be hard to cure. We used toe length and angle as a guide to trim the foot. Don't hear that too much now.

It looks like your heel and toe angle are way off. And your coronary band does not look like a nice smooth flow but more like a roller coaster. Is that normal ? Sorry. I’m pretty new to KZbin!!
