I was 7 when I watched this. Until that film, I had only ever cried when an animal died in a film - this was the first moment I felt true compassion and tears for a human being and it's impact stayed with me forever. Over the years I have Googled the film in the hope of finding it and now finally, here it is. Thank you so much for posting this amazing film so I can re-watch it and so that others can see it too

I watched this movie as a child and treasured the memories. I think the last time I watched it , I couldn't have yet been in my teens . The minute that familiar theme music played, at the beginning of the film, I was immediately brought to tears since the movie had resided for so long in my childhood that I, for a brief instant remembered my innocence and a time when the world was still kind and life was cherished . E-lolipop always had a place in my heart but it's a heart wrenching story. That boy who played Sepho was so beautiful . His eyes and his smile would melt even the hardest of souls. I seriously don't think it would have had such an impact without those two young actors . I think half it's charm was because the film was made in a time when children were still children and it's their innocence that shines through in the performance. God bless Africa ..and God bless my beautiful people. ...even if at times they are being ugly.

An unforgettable film that I, like many commentators here, saw as a child … it always has had a place in my heart. I remember exactly where I saw it too … at Halfway House Drive-in, now long gone. When I heard that music on seeing the film again after all these years, I started crying my eyes out. The music, the film, & the story are all so beautiful, recalling a time that was in so many ways so much less complicated … innocent … beautiful …

This is a beautiful movie. I am American. I have to say I am surprised that a movie like this was made in S Africa in the 70s. I remember the 80s when the whole world seemed to be against S Africa due to apartheid. However, I never believed the media.I knew there was more to S Africa and the people there than what the media portrayed.
