Thank you! E/M is very subjective. As a new coder it can be, mind numbing at times if you tend to overthink as I do. Your case studies simplifies the wordy guidelines. Always appreciate your hard work.

Question about point of care A1C testing, UA dip ran in office, etc: since the results aren't just a negative/positive and require some professional interpretation, can they count as ordered and reviewed? Thank you for your videos, always super helpful!

Systemic diseases that may cause otitis externa include atopic dermatitis, psoriasis, seborrheic dermatitis, acne and lupus erythematosus. I agree they need a better descripiton for us.

Hi Heather! Yes, I can see the AAFP article when I took your description and pasted it into Google. So with that information from this AAFP article, are you then in defense of the illness being considered an acute illness with systemic symptoms? Here's a link to the article for those interested. One of the keywords I'm seeing here is the word "may" which means not always: www.aafp.org/afp/2001/0301/p927.html

HI, I was looking through your video library and i didn't see a video on how to figure out the order of codes when there are multiple codes. Im not grasping it. Any advice?
@ContempoCoding3 жыл бұрын
CPT they go in order of highest to lowest RVU. For ICD-10-CM it depends on the guidelines and instructions in the tabular.

Do you have a tutorial on coding E/M with office procedures? I work for dermatology and we are getting a lot of denials when a procedure is billed with an E/M. Thank you
@hizaleus3 жыл бұрын
Wouldn't atopic dermatitis count as chronic condition with exacerbation? What if in the assessment the provider specifically identifies the diagnosis as such?
@ContempoCoding3 жыл бұрын
It only counts as chronic if the provider designates it as chronic.

What about the left sided headache? Was that chronic? It’s doesn’t state so, do we can’t pull it?
@ContempoCoding3 жыл бұрын
The provider would have to document it as chronic.
