One of those bikes already costs more than i've spent in a lifetime on bikes, including e-bikes. Manufacturers have gone insane with their prices.
@ILoveWalksRides2 ай бұрын
Yep. Can't believe what a sucker I was. Part of it the insanity was the lockdowns. Manufacturers really took advantage at the time imo.

Thanks for sharing your personal experience. I've been somewhat there too: MTB hardtail -> AM MTB -> MTB hardtail -> Endurance road bike. And now tried every kind of biking I'm loving it all😄 so I have a bike for every type of riding😬 road, gravel, track, XC/trail mtb🫣

The good think about the Domane is that it fits up to 38 mm tires, perhaps even 40, so you could put a couple of Pathfinders or similar tires and do some gravel with no issues. Wider tires will also add plushness and comfort to your ride. I'd also consider suspension stem/seatposts, such as Redshifts. Enjoy!

I've went the other way around. Started with a nice road bike. And ended up with modern "downcountry" EMTB. At ~16kg or 35lbs, it's light and nimble. Can be lifted with 1 hand if necessary. And motor is barely audible even at high RPM. Super happy with my choice.
@ILoveWalksRides2 ай бұрын
Nice! Yeah the recent e-bikes are so much better. Am a big fan of the Trek Fuel Exe. Yellow one looks awesome too.

@@ILoveWalksRides I have Rotwild 275. Same motor as EXe, but smaller battery and even stealthier look. The main benefit for me is I can ride more. Even if I had a bad sleep. Or generally don't feel too good. I can still ride in a group and not feel exhausted. A bit of help that is always there if needed.

You aren't an idiot for trying on different sorts of bikes. The only way to find out what fits is to try them on. Your discovery may or may not stay with you forever either as we shift and change over time. My guess is your next thing would be "n+1" like a lot of us - owning more than one kind of bikes at the same time. Enjoy bro. BTW, the scenery is very nice where you are.

It was definitely interesting. For my needs eMTB is the best. The forest roads in the neighborhood offer the safest fun. If I wanted to ride more asphalt then I would get some tire which suits dirt and asphalt eg smart sam.

I went though a similar buying pattern before i realized Road bike is for me , I really dont know why beginners start on MTB , But now that I know I wish i would just have started with a Road bike , the more you cycle the more , you just want to ride your bike , when I rode MTB , half my time was spent fixing punctures and cleaning off mud , crashing , crashing , lots of maintenance , on shocks , tyre sealant plugs , and the list goes on and on .you also forgot to mention the Road bike is way faster , than a MTB on the road ofc.

Started on commuter "old lady bikes" as we call them in Sweden and accidentally road on some gravel and then bought a hardtail. Was about to upbgrade a stumpy but got a old road bike as a commuter. Dropped waaaay to much money on that frame. After that I bought myself a race bike and now I've been through way too many roads bikes.

Great video, but I feel like a really good chunk of the problems you were having could have been solved by going to a professional bike fitter.
@ILoveWalksRides2 ай бұрын
Agreed. I tried this before buying the first bike but my local bike shop back then had super arrogant and condescending staff. They closed up and others opened after a couple of years which were much more helpful but by then I had already started my journey.
@JFomo2 ай бұрын
Roadies all the way. MTB on bike paths are the worst as they have such a wide handlebar making it dangerous when passing other riders and pedestrians. Your next bike should be a lightweight gravel bike.

I love doing bike rides very similar to what you feature in your videos, but I think I have the near perfect bike for these types of rides 😏 I was actually a little disappointed you moved to a road bike for these rides, but now have a better understanding of your reasons. I myself have built myself a old style hardtail mountain bike, I prefer this type of bike because I like the more plush fatter tyres, I got rid of the knobby tyres and replaced them with semi slick better rolling resistance and feel, I sit more comfortably upright rather than leaning on my wrists, added high riser handle bars for more upright position, added a very nice wide plush seat for lovely long distance comfort sitting more upright. The other thing I went for was an older style mtb frame, as all modern mtbs have very steep seat tube angles(designed for steep up hills), which is not comfortable for long flat rides, plus modern bikes are much longer and lower designed for racing basically. I only realised this when I actually brought a modern geometry carbon xc mtb, which was not very comfortable to ride anywhere near as well as my old hardtail, so I got rid of my expensive new modern mtb, then totally rebuilt my trusty old hardtail, now I have my dream bike. But dang, those new emtb are looking more and more attractive haha.

That's awesome feedback! I never would have thought bikes had to be so fine tuned to the specific rides we do but here we are lol. Good to hear you found your perfect ride 👍
@dheath36972 ай бұрын
@@ILoveWalksRides Yes it's a process over time as we try different bike types, I actually started on a flat bar road bike thinking a fast lightweight bike is best, but as just like you, where you ride evolves, as did mine, and so what I preferred evolved. Please keep doing your inspiring beautiful scenery rides, I love 'em so much, I will oneday holiday on the Gold Coast and follow your tracks, Gold Coast has some of the most gorgeous seneic rides in Australia.
@dheath36972 ай бұрын
Edit: I looked up your Trek Domane and see what I believe is the important, but usually unknown aspect which makes it more comfortable for how or where you ride, where your mtb bikes have very steep seat tube angles, designed for riding up steep hills, your Domane like my old hardtail has a much slacker seat tube angle, which is more natural pedalling position on the flats, took me quite a while to work out and realise why my old mtb was much more comfortable than my nice new high specced carbon modern geometry, believe it or not 😅 The Trek Domane SL6 Gen 4 AXS is indeed an extremely lovely bike I must confess, well done! 😊
