Edd Sorensen is amazing and truly a hero! I personally would never dive let alone cave dive but the nerves of steel and awareness of his surroundings in zero vis settings to find lines, openings, and people and navigate is incredible. Thank you for this podcast recording! ❤

I'm an open water diver and proud of it. More "experts" die while cave/rebreather diving than us open water divers. It's become a cult out there, so much so I'm afraid to have some fill my tanks and I'll rig my own gear thank you and I won't dive or train alone with some dive masters. I respect Mr. Sorenson, don't get me wrong. I want to take a rebreather "intro" dive and might actually travel to Florida to take it at his shop, etc. I'm not planning on long duration diving but I like the technology. I think rebreathers do requires training akin to an anesthesiologist but side-mount is just some straps and clips and self-learning, imho. I don't see the need for a course. Of course one would start out slow, get familiar with the new setup in shallow waters, etc. to get familiar with new weight distribution. Just get some equipment and play in less than 15m, imho. It's hard to kill yourself in less than 15m with a bottom and nothing above you. Just head up a few kicks and Boyles law will take you to the surface. What next? A course before you can use noodles in the swimming pool? Good lord...
