Built like a little tank. My wife goes anywhere in hers. Waay better and cheaper than a UTV Our rims are OEM chrome modulars. A set if five. I hate changing a flat to a non matching wheel.

Rally Tops in Gardena, CA makes two-piece fiberglass tops. 31s and the 2” lift you have in mind should be good. They look great set up like that and will be a good, trail capable daily driver.

They're barely 4 feet wide. And almost 11 foot long cause so much plastic bumper extends front and rear. Really basically 4.6 x 10 feet ish. Feels like a go cart goes nearly any where with right tires.and with a locker in them I think they'll climb trees. We live up in the snow and my little old lady drives by abandoned trucks coming and going. She's never been stuck anywhere any season. And we live waaay off grid up trails above the snow line. Wouldn't trade it for a CJ. Dandahermit

I snagged a 99 for free. Needed a battery, push button to the starter. Body's a little rough, but hey! Free!

Thanks! I knew it was low gearing, but dang, that’s real low. I’m going to order a gear set for the transfer case so we can get a deeper 4 low. I’ve been working on it a bit, and have to edit video now. It got a bikini top today and a pretty major tune up, valve adjustment and engine bay cleanup while I’m waiting for the lift and tires.

I own a 2.0 Vitara, it's the same but has the second gen chassis. It's the inbetween model, it looks like a gen one, but with the second gen chassis. Lot more oomph with the 2.0 16v.

It's in good shape. A lot of them are rust buckets. The did make some of them without power steering. Ask me how I know. lol. They are loads of fun. Every time I sell one I end up buying another one. I'm on my third and I'm keeping it. Have fun with it.

I picked up my first one for $1500 and my second for $820 in perfect engine and trans condition but has no cloth top, minor front end damage, needs a brake job, and a tie rod. They’re awesome.

Budget build? Brand new rally top is budget lol. I have 2in body lift and 4xfourart lift with v6 swap. Going for 34s. The 2in body lift doesn't raise the center of gravity as much as a suspension lift. The frame and drive train weight more than the body

The top pressed the budget for sure. To each their own on the body lifts. I see it as it raises the center of gravity a hell of a lot more than just clearancing for tires, and that’s the only functional benefit. Just my opinion.

Interesting to see what you do with it. I had a 199? Suzuki Samari in Spain when I lived there. They make a Spanish version. But great vehicle up in the mountains of road. Big following in Spain. Off road clubs. Also had a mitsubishi Pejero Exceed. 2.5 deisel. Mk 1 that was a great drive. You might find one of those cheap where you are. Great low gear on it. Keep sending footage. Just simple content is good. . Slow your voice down. Lol. Or ease up on the black coffee. Lol. Good luck. Have a good day.

Anyone hear of them breaking camshafts?? I've got a 91 that quit while I was on a side street doing 25 and low rpms. Between the marks on oil, no oil light on which I hate oil lights for this reason. Cam broke clean in almost the middle of the shaft between lobes. Looking forward to what you do with yours.

I have not heard of that being a common problem. I do know however that when I adjusted my valves a lot of the valvetrain hardware was loose. I'm not sure if that was an error by a previous mechanic or if it's a problem these have.

@@DeathTollRacing seems pretty bizarre for such a low horsepower motor. If I was someone that liked high rpm it would make more sense. I guess I should be asking for recommendations on a cam ? Thanks

@@offroad6309 tbh I would just get another stock cam on these. Make sure there’s not a stuck valve in case that’s what caused the cam to break. It’s also possible the head is warped.

No regrets here. It's just odd to me that the Safari build videos are my least watched by far. It's so close to done though, I can re assess it after that. I think it's bad ass, and I will enjoy the hell out of it either way!

@@DeathTollRacing I've noticed most of the coolest builds, like yours and that one dude with the v12 miata, don't get a lot of views till a year or so after, i did find out there's about 37 million youtube channels, which is crazy. But don't give up! Just keep makin them videos, the world will catch up eventually.
