Can’t believe they left your van in such a mess! Poor sweet Rue stuck in that cage! She’s such a good girl! Great video!

oh my word! you passed my work! I have never seen The Agassiz turn off on anyone's channel, its such a small obscure little place! Gorgeous views headed up the canyon! Welcome to canada! You stopped in Merritt! My dad lived there for a few years,! Shuswap is my childhood - my uncle lives there! The rainbow is such a good omen!
@mzomy3992Ай бұрын
My folks had a B&B in Sorrento - you passed right by and I think stopped on the beach there to view the rainbow. I used to work at the Salmon Arm Hospital as an RN. Very nice workplace. We were in the Shuswap just before you to bury my Mom - the little church just west of the Sorrento town area. We stayed at the FINZ resort - was amazing right across from the lake - with a great restaurant there. Highly recommend. Have fun!

Your experience at the border was much like my mom’s was back around 1979/1980. She is Canadian born but got her American citizenship in 1978. We drove to see my grandparents in Syracuse, NY from our home in Florida. She then drove our van into Canada to go see her grandmother in Montreal. Well the agents at the border couldn’t fathom a married woman driving a van from Florida alone into Canada, so they knew there had to be something hidden that they needed to find. Mind you all she had with her was her suitcase. They emptied her suitcase and literally tore the inside of the van apart looking for drugs, door panels, walls, seats in the back, everything. And of course they didn’t put it back together, nor did they find what they were looking for.

I hate border crossing into Canada. We have had similar experiences. It is why we have been avoiding going there for quite awhile. How hard for Rue and you too. WOW. The rainbow is spectacular! That might make me more inclined to make the trek across the border. Good luck! - Michelle

Yay welcome to Canada! I grew up near Banff/canmore. Not sure if you made it to Lake Louise…if not next time I recommend checking out a great hike called the big beehive. It’s been a while since I’ve been there but there was a lovely lakeside tea house part way up, and at the top the view is stunning and takes in all the lakes.

While you are here in WA, you should apply for your nexus pass. We’ve taken our van over through that same crossing, we live in Bellingham, and we pass through in 1 min or less, with our 2 dogs. Next time you pass through Bellingham, we have a couple places one in Bellingham and one in Birch Bay, you can moochdock as you pass through.

Try cutting a piece of ABS or plastic pipe lengthwise leaving a minimum 3/4” gap between the sides. Then clip that over your compression bar and hangers. That will help with the hangers bouncing off.

What a pain for you at the border. It’s too bad we can’t get a “safe traveler” designation for Canada like we do for air travel. Anyway, great video, just beautiful country and awesome rainbow! 🌈 PS: the last we heard you were selling the van and putting down roots. Do you have an update on this?

I’m taking a guess that you crossed at the Sumas crossing. This is the absolute worst crossing in terms of how both visitors and Canadian residents are treated. I’m so sorry that you had to suffer the treatment that you simply did not deserve. We also had our RV torn to pieces and left destroyed inside. And like you, they found nothing. So sad.

I had the same tear down crossing the border into Canada.. I was on a motorcycle!! I think the agent was showing a "newbee" how to properly intimidate a US citizen... I offered to open my luggage and empty everything which was good. After the "inspection" I put everything. back together and rode off Took about 1 ½ hours from start to finish... Coming back into the US was a breeze. I've been to Canada a few times and this was the worst experience yet..
@NomadicSarahАй бұрын
Yeah I've never had a very easy experience in the van! I'm sorry that happened to you too. It's too bad, but worth it in my opinion. Canada is my favorite place on earth. So far... 😉

You're taking the dog in your custody.. back to his/her ancestral lands.. close to it anyway. Be careful that the relatives don't call her back to the Land.. keep a good eye on her. If you've been good to her, and it looks like you have been, she'll likely choose to stay with you. xo

Because they are there to do a job. That is detecting the importation of illegal goods, firearms, drugs, banned fruits and veggies….. get it ? Same rules apply going south too.

As though Canada has some immense reason to be this protective. There’s nothing there worth this amount of hassle. I’ve seen a lot of it and while beautiful, it’s not worth this grief.
