What I love about Chinese Elms is the size of the leaves. It is well suited for shohin or mame size. Great video 🙂👍

Yes! Absolutely great bonsai material!

Nice video Candice. I like the subtlety of the first pot for the little tree.

Good stuff Candice!! That last tree has so many future possibilities, but it sure isn't a great tree the way it is!!!

So true! But I like to have variety of different tree types so sometimes I need to reduce- and this one is lower on the totem pole 🤣

Nice! I really like the big s curve tree view at 18:43 for the front. It shows off some of its natural looking movement.

Great mini series on the Chinese elms, Lady! I’ve got plenty of notes to apply to my own. Think you’ll Airlayer the big s curve tree?

I’ve thought of it I think I could create a better base if I do

I get what your saying. However I keep all mine inside. They slow down but still grow. I have 16 small ones I got adjacent to some big lace bark Chinese elms in a parking lot. They are all still mostly dormant. But indoors. They did have a month or so in the cold before I collected them. With the grow lights they are starting to bud out

Yes Chinese Elms can be grown as semi deciduous and kept in regular living areas during winter - but I find all trees including Tropicals grow more vigorously if allowed a good true dormancy period. It’s too cold here to really keep any trees ‘outside’ during winter so the temperate trees stay in my cold room which has lights 6 hours and temps kept 33-39F.
