Deep gratitude for a most illuminating and sensitive discussion.Credit to the interviewer for having the courage to allow silences; and to Pia Chaudhuri for her responses which spoke to me of a kind of informed tentativeness; an absence of absolutes.There is much I could say in response to such riches, but this is obviously not the appropriate medium.I will therefore restrict myself to just one quote which seems to beautifully encapsulate the significance of the interface between Depth Psychology and Patristic Theology - especially the mystical theology of the Philokalia - is from Thomas Merton:"...there is only one problem on which all my existence, my peace and my happiness depend:to discover myself in discovering God."

One big issue is her example for allegorical theology and its link to theology being Origen. Yes he was brilliant but he was also a heretic, many of his teahcings whwre contrary to what most of the chuch fathers tought, there are so many other ealy writters who are actually saints she could have mentioned.
