I know rc nitro engines are like diesels and use a glow plug. We play with ignition timing by using different heat plugs and head shims. Could be something to look into.

back in the days i had a Kreidler Florett RMS (49ccm) running on mixed fuel by a Mitutoyo carburettor who mixed the standart 1:50 fuel with the nitromethane/oil mix and it was a real pain to properly set up the perfect mix ...but after that it was running like hell!

I read somewhere that RC fuel (methanol/nitromethane/oil) Is not good in 2-stroke gasoline engines. The methanol even having shitload of oil in it makes the engine run with much less oil (solving it away from rings) and may shorten life of the cylinder
@2STROKESTUFFING6 жыл бұрын
So far I haven't seen any ill effects from it, except the melted plugs/piston
@cheaprubbergarage60156 жыл бұрын
You need to add castor oil
@markohelenin87316 жыл бұрын
Smelly Socks I always use 50/50 castor and synthetic oils on my rc's. Castor oil smells good IMO and it has good properties on hot engines. Methanol is the fucker in 2-strokers
@mjm71876 жыл бұрын
Have you ever tried making an adapter bushing for spark plug hole to glow plug ignition. Rc modelers used to do this on 2 stroke engines.
@breckhedrick16945 жыл бұрын
Can you find information on how they made glow plugs work on 2 stroke moters Iam interested in this idea but ok
@spencermink814 жыл бұрын
@@breckhedrick1694 you have to have a compression ratio of 18:1 or higher. Glow plugs work in diesel engines because of the high compression. Once you surpass 18:1 on a single cylinder small engine you are dealing with a controlled bomb unfortunately... 😂🤣

I've seen that you're using Castrol Power semi-synthetic A747 oil which is a great oil developed for racing applications. I'm no expert but I know that synthetic oils contain between 1% and 30% other additives. This means that only 70% of your oil may be mineral based. Might I suggest that you use castor oil, since you're running methanol on some of your dyno tests. I rode a Lambretta 200 scooter on road and track, running it almost exclusively on Castrol R40 (and occasionally R30) and never had a problem. I think that most that's said and written about R40 is "urban legend" - shrouded in the mists of time. I never suffered from any “gumminess” and the only thing I noticed, apart from the addictive smell, was a sliver-thin, shiny-black (and easily cleaned) film deposited on the combustion components. On the odd occasion, when forced to do so, I also mixed it (premix) with semi-synthetic and synthetic 2 stroke oils. Again, no problem. (Hahaha, I once had a Vespa rider stop and talk to me at a road junction: "Wow mate," he said. "What a smell! You've gotta be running your scooter on Castrol R? I've been trying to catch up with you for the past 5 miles!"). I did try to find details on Castrol’s own website for you, but the only thing I found that may be of interest, because you’re Norwegian and due to your climate, is a note that said: “Do not store below 0 degrees Celsius.”

you need to tanks to get it started one foe alcohol or race gas than another for the nitro so get it running on the gas or alcohol and than slowly add the nitro and once running turn the gas off
@zuestoots51765 жыл бұрын
Gas to Nitro can cause some really bad things if you are not prepared. Top fuel cars (in the early days) had a problem with blowing the hats off the charger when they went from alcohol to Nitro.. Timing has to change so much between the two fuels, being off a bit can be bad trouble when they change over

Im sorry but why is the cylinder upside down? I never saw a spx engine before and this looks like a very weird engine imo 😂 even carb placement looks strange
@2STROKESTUFFING7 жыл бұрын
+playstationfreak1111 Yep, it's upside-down! The engine is homemade so no wonder you haven't seen it before. I mounted the cylinder upside to be able to run an as straight as possible exhaust pipe. The carb is in an unusual position because the engine is made to run a rotary valve intake.

@777cerovski7777 жыл бұрын
2STROKE STUFFING. That should be big enough just move the needle clip all the way down and use a few small washers to bring it up more. Forget about the slow jet idle jet thay won't flow enough keep them stock forget tuning those just focus on the main and needle. Clear float Bowls are nice. If you need use a diaphragm style fuel pump get a cheap one. The last as long as you clean them out with WD-40.
@2STROKESTUFFING7 жыл бұрын
+Cody Cerovski Thanks for the tips! I drilled out the internal passages for the pilot circuit and the jet itself to 1.5mm - almost rich enough...
@777cerovski7777 жыл бұрын
2STROKE STUFFING yes forget about the pilot you can plug it off 1.75 mm to 2.50 on the main it should work 46 to 40 drill size. If I you want to tune it in reshape the needle use a drill and sand paper.
@2STROKESTUFFING7 жыл бұрын
+Cody Cerovski I've sanded the needle tip for more fuel at wot. First tried a drilled out needle jet but it was too much. 2.5mm main is about right on this setup(+ the powerjet almost fully open) Melted the plug in seconds with 2mm main.
