Really enjoyed this episode. Thanks guys. Gave me some great confirmation for my training with some walking. Still in process of lowering my MAF. So I am doing a run walk method like Galloway talks about. And will do added walks to stay low heart rate. Want to check out those shoes. I am loving my Merrel barefoot gloves. Wonder how stack height compares. I did love the five fingered shoes back in the day and I am using the toe correctors now lots and my feet are feeling incredible. So perhaps this is next step.

I run as fast as I used walk...so I guess I'm good~ The main thing is to keep moving and enjoy it, maybe with some gentle or moderate challenges.

Yeah, I do fartlek runs, interval runs and steady runs. I used to compete in many distances and was a good (female) club runner ,36 minutes for 10k and 2 .50 marathon ,and 58 minute 10 mile. I'm now 69, run because I love it, do weight training and cyclo cross and mountainbike racing. A good coach will include slow runs, interval training (sprints) and weight training. You make some good observations which I totally agree with. So many people are overweight, so walking and weights much better for them. Thick cushioned shoes are so unnatural. I use Merrell , and Vivo barefoot , or nothing(on my feet🤣). I also forefoot strike and don't suffer any injuries. I probably run around 16 miles / week. I will be interested to hear your thoughts on the current ultra craze ,and bikepacking racing. For example , the Transcontinental, the Atlas Mountain race and others, where you are sleep deprived, suffering extreme temperatures, and often becoming sick .And doing 7 or 8 times /year, added to all the miles of training.

Thank you, awesome, you’ve been on the right path 🙌 The ultra craze is real, and like anything, it can be healthy or unhealthy depending on what’s one goal is. Recovery is the key that some overlook.

He definitely helps take the mental sting out of my walking portions of my MAF runs.

Move a lot, eat real food, lift heavy things and sprint every now and again ... is it this simple?

@TheRUNEGADEPodcastTM eating real food on small and tight budget seems to be the greatest challenge of the list.

I don't have any embarrassment at walking during my runs and treadmill sessions. I religiously watch my heart rate and when it gets up too close to my self imposed zone 2-ish limit, I walk until it comes down. While I am entered into 3 50km trail races in 2025, I plan on run/walking the entire distance. I'm in my 3rd season of running and working out (M58). I am in this for health!

@CAPTAIN_FANTASTIC_WORKS_OUT For me, it isn't embarrassing. It's more of a frustration of how often I need to walk to control my HR. I look forward to the day I can go a mile or even a half-mile without needing to walk.

The title "Why You Need to Stop Running" initially made me cringe, as I'm sure people expected. For anyone who understands the Maffetone Method and Mark's Primal books, I don't think anything Mark says is really controversial. Learning to slow down and not be afraid of walking more has made me enjoy moving more, while getting faster and going longer. This was an excellent discussion!

Thank you, I thought the same when Mark made the controversial comment. Those who are familiar with MAF, we understand this. We appreciate the comment 🙌

So we now need a book telling us that we should walk? Your grandma already told you that. The grift among KZbinrs is insane right now. I agree with you and I've always said that running is the most overrated form of exercise.
