That "pop" definitely was the break. And, my first thought when the chain was rattling while revving was "motor mount". Yup, always start with the outside/easy stuff first. But, when it's ugly, it's UGLY!! I was on a ride with a guy once, he wanted me to listen to a new/odd sound coming from his 2014 Honda Valkyrie Rune. I walked around it to isolate the side of the bike, and then went front to back. To me, the sound came from inside the engine case (shifter side), just forward of the alternator. My diagnosis was a bad bearing for the front of the shaft that drives the alternator. Luckily, it was under warranty still and when the shop split the cases, my diagnosis was correct. He sold it after the second one failed and Honda fixed that one too. That was a SWEET riding bike... but a PITA to work on. I refused to touch the thing after working on it a couple of times.

MotoCheez Supposedly they included an upgraded bolt in the crate for awhile then upgraded the bolt they were using at the factory. Dunno how much truth there is to that. I found the fuel tank vent hose pinched on my GF’s, fixed that and eliminated the vapor recovery system. Moved the fuel shutoff to where it’s actually useable. Retorqued the head bolts, they were all over the board. Rejetted it of course. Got it running good now, I’m impressed with it and she loves it.

Hey, we spoke before about the best Chinese supermoto. I ended up buying one as "parts" that isn't EPA approved and not sold in the US commercially, so I'll have some fun filing that paperwork. Anyway, thought I'd mention, something I discovered when researching my engine is that it seems pretty common on the forums that the exhaust port on the Chinese copies are pretty restrictive (Id imagine to meet emissions standards, which mine still didn't (lol)). Friend recommended I line it up to TDC, add some compressor air to the cylinder and hollow out that exhaust port with an angry bit to gain some extra power. Might not get you to overtaking the Grom but maybe it helps? I'd tell you how mine went but I live in an apt and my bike is still under construction at my grandfather's and thanks to COVID-19, will remain that way for the foreseeable future as I won't be the one to give him that virus. Anyway, could be a quick and "free" power upgrade to hog out that exhaust port. Thought I'd mention it. Hope all is well and secure on your end.
