E30 Engine Swap Prep! 24V Swap Info!

I bought a new oil pan for my S52 swap as everywhere I looked, the used ones were grinded to oblivion or welded and they were all in the $300-400 range. Apparently, BMW changed their design because the baffle is held with bolts. Don't know if there's a gearhead at BMW that saw that a lot of people swapped those engine and told the engineers to change to bolts, but whoever made that call, props to you. Took me 4 years to finally get started on this project (car is fully apart since I bought it as the body needs a bunch of love), but videos like yours are of great help.

I'm almost done my S52 swap into my 91 318is as well. (Your 1st video on the s52 swapped e30 is what made me pull the trigger and do an s52 swap in mine) I had my ecu tuned for an m50 intake.. but I trust what you're saying instead. Going to stick with my m52 intake and have the ecu remapped. Keep up the great work guys! I've been following you guys since you had 1200 subs. I hope your channel gets the recognition it deserves.

The fuel rail you're thinking of, with both hoses AND integrated FPR at the rear, is from the early OBD2 E39 528i. I think years 96-97, I got mine from a 97. It has the correct holes for the plastic cover as well. What's your reasoning on the preference for the OBD2 manifold?

Off topic but do you know a tried and true method to get an m30b35 MAF to fit on an m20 is it as easy as finding the right hoses and the ecu will figure it out

Thanks for the advance disclaimer on the E36. Hate to generalize, but most of us have seen it all before - the purists insist you save every single salvage-title BMW that crosses your path back to factory original concours, showroom, museum condition (Even the 144 hp 1.8L 318's that aren't worth anything! where's the fun in that?), blah blah, you're destroying a BMW, etc. Give it a rest, purists. I love the way one KZbinr put it: "You people want to stop me? It's simple - buy up every single car like this on the planet, store them all in a warehouse so I can't convert any more of them." LOL. Can't wait to see this build.

Question, have you had any luck with the e36 mid pipe replacement from Magnaflow? My e36 m3's cats are rattling and I'd like to keep SOME form of cats. They look like the only real drop in new parts without shelling out 2-3k for the OEM replacement.

I'd be happy to make a dyno video. You lose significant power under the curve and only pickup about 5 on the very top of the RPM range.

Yes, The e36 headers are the same on Z3 and other e36 models if they have the same engine

However a little tip if you’re gonna end up going with a e36 wiring harness on an e39 engine you gonna have to change the alternator too

I have been told unless you are revving crazy high all the time the chances of it coming off are slim, so I'd say unless the engine isn't in the car, I wouldn't worry about it too much. wouldn't hurt though!
