@ LaCroix Cruiser my family and I are in the same process you guys are, we bought our charter bus and we are in the process of stripping it down on the inside. I will be definitely watching ALL your videos for advice. I will be needing lots of advice from you if that is possible.

Came back to this episode for some panel insight. Having a 40’ foot probably helps with getting over 4K watts from your roof. I didn’t hear you talk much about the panels you used, though. Maybe I missed it? But would you mind sharing brand and ratings/volts output of the panels you used? Thanks again!
@LacroixCruiser3 жыл бұрын
The 8 smaller panels are Silfab 320w 48v panels. The 4 larger panels are Canadian Solar 390w panels also 48v
@RollinHomies3 жыл бұрын
Did you wire the 320panels separate from 390’s to your inverters? I’ve heard that if you wire two different panel sizes (watt sizes), that you watts In is limited to the smaller number? If you wired separately, that would not be the case.
@LacroixCruiser3 жыл бұрын
Yes, the panels are divided into 4 zones, each zone going to its own charge controller.

Wow, we have 3120 watts on the roof and I thought THAT was alot!

This build is so totally on a different level. Just happen to come across it. One video, and I'm hooked!! What was the insulation that you used under the exhaust rap?

Looking amazing as always, is there any chance you could give us a little more details of how your solar panels attached? I like the way you did it with your hinging tabs rather than track the entire length of the bus.
@LacroixCruiser4 жыл бұрын
They are made from 1 1/2” x 1/8” aluminum angle 3 1/2” long. The angle cut is 27 degrees, the bracket on the bus has a 1/4-20 threaded hole. The hole in panel brackets is 9/32”
@constechable4 жыл бұрын
@@LacroixCruiser yeah I watched you make them they look great I guess more of what I would like to see is how they attach to the solar panel, and how many you put on each panel and where they were mounted etc.
@LacroixCruiser4 жыл бұрын
@@constechable they are attached with 1/4 20 bolts and nylon locking nuts. The 320 w panels have 4 brackets, the 390w panels have 6.

@@LacroixCruiser thank you, any chance I could get a picture of the bracket bolted onto the panel especially the middle one?

Will you or have you done a run in to check pipe heat? Also are you adding flaps to the pipes like the exhaust on a semi tractor?
@LacroixCruiser4 жыл бұрын
Yes, we ran a test before insulating them, and they only got warm. They will be separated from the living quarters in their own insulated box. That box will also have venting. No need for flaps, the pipes have bends that will catch rain drops, bringing them to the side of the pipe. The pipes are open to the ground below.
