First of all I wanna say that I’m baffled with the amount of knowledge you have in every aspect, your a blessed man, thank you for all this content My question to you is how the alternator can play a roll in charging up the house batteries, wasn’t sure if I should mix the 2, meaning leave the original batteries just to run the bus and the add on batteries to serve the coach, what’s your suggestion
@LacroixCruiser2 жыл бұрын
Thank you. It’s best to keep them as totally separate systems. We have a DC to DC charger that safely unites the 2 systems for charging when the engine is running.

Terrific electrical system information and awe inspiring to see how you've put this together. I know that sourcing components tools and supplies is a resource management headache but you make it look so easy and manage to output videos like clockwork. Somehow I suspect this is more than 40 hours of work per week. As in learning anything, the more I learn the more questions that come up, but I'll limit mine to 2 questions at this time. 1) I noticed that you built in redundancy between the inverters and circuit breaker stacks so that if one inverter went out, you could switch some essential circuits over to the other inverter. However all of your 24V house batteries are feeding a single bus bar. Was there any practical reason other than fewer wires not to have two separate battery banks for the inverters? 2) In the bays, I see what looks like 3-wire Romex, but I didn't see anything but single wires upstairs behind the cabinets. Were my eyes deceiving me downstairs? Or upstairs? I know you said 'one wire' but I assumed you meant '3-wire Romex', and I thought the electrical code recommends that LINE and NEUT travel close together to cancel and minimize any EMF heating. I could probably ask questions like this all afternoon and still be learning, but I couldn't help asking these two questions after seeing such a great overview of a 4-power-source system!
@LacroixCruiser2 жыл бұрын
If we had separate batteries banks for each inverter we would have to balance usage between the inverters. All 120v circuits are 14/2 Romex. All 12v circuits are 12g stranded. Every circuit is a home run, one draw= one breaker or fuse.

Exactly as you would wire a regular 120v 3 way. The only exception is that what is the neutral ( white) in 120v becomes the ground wire in your 12v system.

Every episode I watch, I keep looking at my 1978 GM Class C parked outside. It hasn't been used since 2010. If I can start it, I might fix it. I never liked the long overhang in the front. What I do like is the absence of computers; no OBD1 Kenobi on board! How can half an hour seem like 5 minutes? Whoever edits your videos is doing a great job. Not even time to yawn. Maybe it's the hosts? I think so! Keep the episodes coming.
