Great interview! Very relatable in many respects: I’m a career changer as well and just made the jump six months ago, though I’ve been planning this for almost 20 years; I began flight training in 2008, so I know what it was like during the Great Recession - two of my flight instructors were airline pilots that had to come back to flight training temporarily after furloughs; I’m also a big sim guy, that began in the ‘80s. The big difference for me is that there will be a 14 year gap between my commercial ratings and my CFI, which I’m preparing for a January check ride right now. Had to go into this new industry debt-free, and hopefully I can outlast the downturns and do wonderful things in the near future.
