This reminds me of when I installed my 1st LED's ( 6 red LED taillights along with 2 headlights made from pen lights in an RC Mustang as a young teen, I think about 1978. I felt really good about how it turned out! My neighbors who saw it running at night thought it looked awesome and were amazed after finding out that I planned and installed the lights on my own. LED's were fairly uncommon then. Your video is excellent for anyone wanting to learn how to do plan and install LED's! Thank you for all your awesome videos!

HUGELY USEFUL VIDEO!! I learned more about choosing resistors, than I had 15 years prior! Thank you for that. ANOTHER idea that I'd LOVE for you to do.... Light Buckets! Primarily for Lexan bodies, with enough side material so that they can be adhered to the inside of the body. Something in some popular round and rectangular headlights, and maybe different sizes of taillights, partitioned for driving/brake, turn signal and reverse lights, and different orientations and sizes - vertical and horizontal..... Doable?? It's a sadly lacking niche in the market. Especially since more people are going more Scale with their RC vehicles, and the cool lighting options that have popped up lately. It's REALLY an untapped market! You already make one, taillight buckets for Blackfoot. I bought a pair, and am going to try them in my CC-01 Landfreeder "Ford Ranger" Lexan body..... I'll let you know how that works. 😉

I'm glad you liked it! It was a total pain to film this one but I know a lot of people don't know how to make their own light kits. I am planning on more lenses and buckets soon. I hear you on the lexan ones. I think I may do some generic ones.

I've never tried to film a wiring/soldering video, but I can imagine! Yeah, even some rectangle and round headlight buckets would be a great start.

Looks so cool. Had to skip some of the instructions as it was way too trchnical for me (yet). Will return to it when I'm ready :-) About to build the new Porsche 934 - got lights etc 'served on a plate' for beginners. Good way to start for the first time. Im sooooo confused thought it would have been some plug n play kind of thing lol I mean I know I would have to do some work but this is a lot for me don't get me wrong you explain these things perfect and I have learned a lot from your video's but I think I will have to pass on installing lights in my bandit.

No there is no plug and play thing for a stock bandit. You need to source the power from somewhere on the car (power switch is a good place) but they are not easy. That is why I like the light controller but that requires a complete electrical overhaul.

@@AMPROEngineering no I understand I would have to tape into some kind of power source when I say plug im play meaning the lights already hooked to the wires and then put them in a power source. The whole break down of the bulbs and stuff is confusing me. I plan to put upgrades in the bandit wich I have done before in my super bandit so I just wanted to get the light set from Shapeways paint them cut the holes in the grill and put the lights in but it seems its not that easy thats all I was saying.

First; Anything you come up with for the Brat bod, please please let me know as soon as I can get anything, even if it's just beta or test or anything, I have a few and have sat for a lot of time debating casting lenses, making proper steps, rear jumps, etc etc etc. Okay, re-watched, and sooooo much info I saved it to an album for reference. Great vid and good idea with the PC strap. For LED work = I have used usb line = 5/1 and $ store earbud line =4/1 sometimes 3/1, I did find the 3.5 mic/earbud and that is super fine also. The finest I've found is a "retractable" usb extension = super fine & flexible. Again; anything Brat I will need.

As long as it as a 540 can size, 3mm shaft and it isn't too long then it should but don't quote me. I don't own anything Traxxas. Wish I could help more.

Yes. They are wired to a 6 V source

Do you mean you have a second battery controlled by the switch? Would it be possible to connect that switch to the main battery using an 'Y' adapter? I know there are already plenty of wires... ;}
