I've been watching some of your videos lately and I am very impressed with all the transformations and add-on to old vehicles. I will be visiting the web site (Shapeways) soon just to browse your products and see if I can find some updated parts for my Tamiya Jeep Wrangler. I would love to make changes to the rear suspension and make it kind of independent suspension without sacrifice the differential. I'm also looking for sturdy front knuckle arms. I have owned the vehicle for two decades now and it has been in a box for almost 15 years. Looking forward to find great products for my Jeep. Thanks.

Thank you very much Delfin. Good news it that lots of companies make parts for the CW01 Wrangler. Wow, you were not kidding when you said it was a tight fit. Done now though. Very good looking prints and very strong. Pricey to the UK, due to import taxes ect, but well worth it. My issue now is, I had bought aftermarket Aluminium shocks and they were fitted horizontally. Now they fit vertically onto the new hubs, the ones I have are way too long. Any idea what length the shocks sould now be to get the best fiting and suspension travel?
@AMPROEngineering
@AMPROEngineering Жыл бұрын
Yeah that is a shame it costs so much to get there given Shapeways is located in the Netherlands. The shocks needed are 80mm. That is what the stock ones are so maybe add some internal spacers to get the eye to eye length at 75-80mm. Email me at amproengineering@gmail.com if you have any issues.
@GhostofTatooine
@GhostofTatooine Жыл бұрын
@@AMPROEngineering yeah, weird. They say if it is more than £135 then I am an imported and have to pay the duty. I guess it is to do with where you are as the designer rather than where they are as the maker. Anyway, glad it is now done. Have the shocks so will be installing them later. Have a 2S lipo to try out too but will probably not go Brushless. Seen some videos and it just seems a little to uncontrollable for my liking. Anyway keep up the good work and if you ever get the .STL files out for sale I may print some of my own stuff from you.

OH! Haha! You had me concerned! I can't tell you off my head but as long as the upright is perpendicular to the ground you are good. Remember to test the travel with your shocks before you add oil to them. The rear suspension can bind the axles if the shock is too long. You may need an internal spacer (I used a 2 mm spacer in mine).

Thank you for the kind words Giuseppe. I do not talk about my background but I must say that it might make a good video soon. I am a Senior Mechanical Engineer at one of the best product design firms in Silicon Valley. I used to design pharmaceutical machinery but now have moved on to very high tech consumer products. I do all my own designs and then prototype them in house. From there, all parts are sent to Shapeways.com for production prints. I used to use Solidworks from 1998-2010 but then got fed up with the inability to deal with even the smallest of assemblies. I moved to Pro/ENGINEER in 2010 use it to this day (now it's called Creo). I have some awesome stuff coming soon so keep yours eyes peeled!

Well the ball cups I use are 4.8mm units. Kyosho makes nice ones I get on eBay. As for the studs, correct, the hole is 3.0mm so that you cannot thread into it. It isnt going to be able to hold a machine thread in place. so you need a nut on the back side of the ball stud (if I am following you correctly). 10mm long, 4.8mm diameter ball studs are what you need. There are some on our MyMiniFactory page but these are all designed for SLS or Poly Jet printer and not optimized for FDM. I cant recall if these are there yet but usually the smaller parts are on with the main components being on Shapeways only due to IP theft. www.myminifactory.com/users/Ampro_Engineering

Newbie here. What is ORV?
@AMPROEngineering
@AMPROEngineering 3 жыл бұрын
So Tamiya called this series with the space frame chassis the "ORV" cars. It stood for "Off Road Vehicle". I cant say it was a unique name.

They there, yes it will be for sale. As soon as I can give it a good testing it will be up for sale! Best way to know when it is for sale is to follow me on facebook at Amproengineering and follow me here. Trust me, the minute the thrash test video is done, you better believe it will be posted!

I saw in one of your videos to spray the parts with a clear coat? Am I making this up?
@AMPROEngineering
@AMPROEngineering 7 жыл бұрын
Haha, no you are not. I like to shoot them with a couple coats of clear to help prevent the dirt from sticking. It wont make them shiny, it will just seal them.

AMPRO Engineering I am just worried about the clear coat melting the plastic. What kind of clear coat? Thanks

Valid concern. I have used lacquer but I am a big fan of testors clear enamel. For me it has worked awesome.

What's the shock length?
@AMPROEngineering
@AMPROEngineering 7 жыл бұрын
80mm eye to eye max. That is what I use but not a micron more. I would add internal spacers for a 78mm length.

Great engineering! But poor pricing from shapeways - 150 Dollars, that‘s way too much! Maybe you should sell the files so we can print the parts on our own.

There are some parts on MyMiniFactory. Usually I keep the IP heavy parts on Shapeways to maintain my designs. All too often people steal them. It is unfortunate.
