E39 M5 GS7D36SG DCT Transmission shift testing.

After some fine tuning of the HTG GCU to smooth out gear shifts, we have smooth up shifts and downshifts with reliable throttle cut and blip for each event.

Steaky, I'm getting ready to build a race car with the GS7D36SG transmission, and would love to communicate privately with you about how you converted the stock steering wheel to a racing steering wheel (removable?) with paddle shifters. Also interested in any other related mods. I cannot seem to find the PM link on your "about" page.

???? u literally add paddles to it from the back. and pull 2 wires to the dct. + and ground if im not misstaken when u google the paddle shift system on the f30/f10 dct.

You need a slip ring for an E38 E39 with a heated steering wheel. It allows for 2 more wires and use the ground on the wheel itself.

Strange seeing an M5 be automatic

It’s not an auto in the traditional sense. DCT gearboxes are purely mechanical units with hydraulic shift actuation 👍👍

Unfortunately no build video as it was a long long project. But the general crux of it is a GS7D36SG from an F82 M4, carbon propshaft, AdamAT adaptor plate and flywheel, HTG Electronics GCU for gearbox control.

The Shift lag is too long.

Low load shifts require it to prevent lurching and bucking.
