Thank you for giving a concise breakdown of the issue and a plan of action with lots of modifications for customizability. This and your FAI video have been extremely helpful for me. I spent months looking around at other PT videos on KZbin, and they all either keep you on the hook to watch more videos without quite telling you everything you need to know, or worse, they try to sell you an exercise plan (or products with the promise that they'll help!!) after they hook you. Thank you for not being another sleazy PT channel. You rock.

This video stopped me from googling so many questions I kept asking over and over year after year w no answer. I have an internal hip snap that I’ve had probably since I was a young teenager so like, half my life. Never knew why and always seemed like I was the only one I knew w this issue. Thank you for helping explain it & lmk there’s others like me & they’re completely healthy and normal people

oh dude , i got a bad case of this snapping hip after spamming a load of 540 hook kicks in taekwondo and i’ve really been struggling to figure out what exactly it is but this video has pinpointed the exact issue i’m facing . i’ve been scouring the internet for the last two weeks because it’s so difficult to really pinpoint due to the amount of muscles in the hip ! thank you so much for this i can finally become a recovery program !

I appreciate that you provided so many options and levels to the excercises, this way I was able to find variations that my body didn't say "nope, that looks painful, I'm not doing it" to and felt challenging just the right amount and pain free to practice. I recently figured out that the cause behind the pain I epxerience in various parts of my body is most likely from unstable joints. I watched, practised excercises and took advice from several of your videos and I am so thankful for the in depth explanations and guidance. Even after one time practise I felt at least temporary relief in the targeted areas and I am sure with consistency I will be able to strengthen my joints so I can move pain free and without the risk of unnecessary injury. The point is thank you so much for your efforts, I love your videos.

I have had the internal snapping hip syndrome for years, and it originated from figure skating for me. The reason it occurs in dancers/gymnasts like this is not due to a lack of flexibility or strength, but rather the inverse. When you demand your body be very flexible while also demanding strength, it puts a lot of strain on the muscle. It is having to hyperextend while also flexing, hence causing the snap over the bone. I think this is also why it is common practice to "turn out" as is done in ballet when raising your legs, to help the muscles stretch around the hip joints instead of snapping over them. For me, it is loud and obnoxious, it definitely feels weird, but it has never been painful or something I really worry about. Thank you for mentioning that right in the beginning, it really isn't something everyone needs to freak out over. For me, it's just that those muscles have trained to flex and stretch at the same time, which perhaps is not common for most.

I think mine started happening after a car wreck and fracturing my hip in my teens (1999) . I remember I could feel the pop through the floor and it was entertaining to me. I’ve gotten sore hip pain on that side for the past month and when I did exercises for it yesterday , I noticed the pop when spreading my legs apart and now I have no hip pain anymore . 🤔 popping remains though. Never had any pain with the popping. Glad to hear it’s not a socket issue ! 😅

Wow, you are doing an egregious injustice two many people who think they might have this condition known as snapping hip syndrome. Indeed, it may well be many of the numerous conditions you described with various tendons, but… And this is a big but, the problem can be femoroacetabular impingement. To flippantly say it’s nothing to worry about is an error, because in fact, sometimes it is a lot to worry about. As you should know, every case is different when dealing with the human body, of course, you really shouldn’t have to be told this.

Fair point. He does mentioned his FAI when talking about the third type of snapping hip. I have FAI and have some popping in my left hip, but it’s painless and is hard to tell if it’s related to FAI or snapping hip. I don’t have any of the other FAI symptoms (like groin pain or inability to deep squat) but do have the popping sound. Could be painless labrum damage

@@darioxbrow9223 Maybe in the first 5 or 10 reps, then it goes away, specially with practice, but if you have pain after doing the exercises it probably means you are forcing a range of motion you don't control yet and so are leaving most of the load directly onto the joints, try doing smaller circles and over time you will get better and be able to open more the range of motion.

I'm no expert by any means, but for me my internal snapping often goes coupled with anterior pelvic tilt from excessive sitting. The cause of my snapping doesn't seem to be lack of strength or mobility on its own, but more an imbalance in strength and mobility causing improper hip to femur position during certain movement. Which just means I've been slacking during my workouts on my full range of motion strength exercises, or over working/under working certain muscle-groups.
@DavidBertossi
@DavidBertossi Жыл бұрын
You are just weak or uncoordinated in that position of hip extension, while you go to the eccentric and stretch you need a good deal of stability coming from the trunk and also control of the hip musculature, i have it too because my left leg is weaker than my right but while i focus on stabilizing the left, the snapping dissapears. Just a matter of repeating and getting stronger in that position and being aware of not letting your pelvis go to anterior pelvic tilt at the end range otherwise you are missing strengthening this very aspect of the motion that is beneficial, keep a pelvis in slight posterior pelvic tilt while doing it and over time i think even with the anterior pelvic tilt you won't have issues as control and strength should have been developed.
