E450/350 Vents stuck on Defrost. FIX

Amazing this hack fixed my air-conditioning. Spoke to several mechanics. They told me it just wasn’t worth the expense to do it. I didn’t pull the old vacuum line out and snake through the new one a row did it through the inner fender right before the passenger side floorboard there’s a little plastic knock out.. this took an hour of my time thank you thank you

I did the exact same thing but now when I put a load on it, it goes back to the defrost and floorboards. Once I left off the throttle, I blows through the vents again just fine. Ugh! Any ideas???

thank you! finally a utoob how-to that actually worked! as a heavy equipment mechanic I've seen a lot of videos that should have just been deleted LoL. after watching your video I was able to buy the equivalent doorman (good aftermarket brand) vac chamber and check valve for our 2003 E450 motorhome at Oreilly's from your part numbers. I drilled a small hole for the tubing to enter the cab from the engine compartment through a small grommet so not to lose the dash frame mounting. I used 3m 15lb adhesive strips to mount the vac chamber to the heater box behind the steel plate, rock solid! tubing ran neat and clean out of sight and function tested before covering up. held steady for 1500 mile road trip so far. was 100+ in yosemite and we were cool as cucumbers up front! thanks again!

Thanks so much for doing this video. So cut the vac line inside the vehicle, attach new line to the old line with junction fitting and pull new line through the firewall? What about the lines going to the existing check valve and vacuum tank? Looks like they will pull free on the exterior side of the firewall from the vacuum tank and check valve? I'm missing something here.

Yes I’ve been having the same problem for a long time and my mechanic is sad the problem is under the dash the way you did works great and I don’t need to remove the Complete Dash

did the same, only im using a universal vacuum storage container, not a ford and cant get mix to work still. thinking this storage container is to small or cuz of idle. but got it working again!

I keep wondering why no one has tried simply removing the inner fender panel to get to the original reservoir and check valve? I think I will try it on our E450.
