I just fixed one for this nursing home, and I just had a ton of elderly men and woman tell me thank you. I couldn’t take full credit so they asked me to pass along a “god bless and thank you”. 2019 btw

You can separate the firewall engine side from the firewall passenger side at the valve, pull the valve through with a wire taped to it so you can feed it through again. Put a screw in the open hose end of the 3-way valve that is leaking to atmosphere, reinstall it and not have to cut the access hole. I just completed this action with your help.

I have a 1998 Ford E-350 Club Wagon with V-8 gas engine. I developed the identical leak in at my vacuum reservoir or line. The vacuum reservoir and built in check valve is actually hidden under and attached my blower/coil unit which is totally inaccessible. It comes from the factory like that:( I removed my battery and battery tray and with a little pressure my existing check valve and lines pulled out from under the blower/evaporator unit. I disconnected the red line from the vacuum control valve leading to the old reservoir and installed my new factory Ford reservoir under my battery tray to the left of the windshield washer reservoir with a body clip. The vacuum port line comes out straight down from the top of the battery about 11 inches. I literally left everything else in place. I liked it so much better than the reroute here. I believe I may end up rerouting the new vacuum line on the passenger side when I have time and relocate my reservoir behind the dash like you did. I would recommend using automotive or high heat aluminum duct seal if you chose to reroute the line thru your insulation by the dog house. Even though the hole is small and duct taped it's still going into the passenger compartment. I didn't have anything to go by when I did this project. I followed kzbin.info/www/bejne/mpXGi6Grl699ncU

Confirmed fix on 2013 E350 Box truck. That line runs to a vacuum reserve canister and its so buried in there not worth digging it out and replacing rotted rubber hoses. The vacuum reserve is there for high engine RPM conditions where vacuum is low and keeps the on the setting you have it on during that time.

Would I be pulling it off of the firewall and attaching it or off of the connector going up to the top of the motor and connecting it

I did the bypass exactly like the video. But instead of solving the issue, it went from 0% airflow going to the vents to 5%. The major airflow still goes to defrost. Any suggestion?

This worked, awesome, many thanks. I used this other video to get a bit more details (kzbin.info/www/bejne/mpXGi6Grl699ncU) , but used this simplified fix. As you can see in other comments, the vacuum reservoir and check valve are optional - helpful to stabilize setting under high rpm but not really needed and I suspect the check valve may be the failure mechanism. I cut the sleeve, made a small hole in firewall just for red tubing, reinserted sleeve on other side (although probably not needed), and reused complete connector as is. Did not cut the red tube from connector, just twist with a plier.

The problem is either the vacuum reservoir or the vacuum check valve have failed. They are located INSIDE of the black housing with the AC condenser and the heater core. It is an extreme PIA to reach them, which is why most people bypass them. I would like to find a video of someone doing it all the "proper way" also however. I am most curious to find out if it is possible to do the job without draining the heater core or AC condenser.
@georgewing28182 жыл бұрын
This is the simplest method of all the ones in how to fix the AC on Ford Econoline that blows AC out the defrost. The best thing is no new parts or tubing or tank to purchase !!!
