Thanks for letting us take a look around and your thought process. This is a good example how make changes / well planned and executed design to simplify keeping the car on track.Great looking Car and I wish cars could go back to being built with only the things needed to make it go, slowdown , stop and have the windows roll down manually but keep the electric mirrors for road cars. See you on the next sneak peak into the goings on of Wout even if it's not the day of the posting of the video.

If you go back to the essence, a pro drift car needs only 600 real useable horsepower in 90% of comps. Generally, a good motor does 100hp/l so a 6 litre motor works. The reason why manufacturers went to smaller displacement was not performance, but packaging (fwd use of a platform), fuel efficiency, emissions etc. None of that applies to a drift car. My car has the same fuel economy at an event as my friends built 600hp LS3. It also has the same AFR.

@@DriftJesus only a more simple time is was I was comparing to a road car and used the term road car. Also it would be nice if car manufacturers put some thought into the repair aspect of a vehicle like not taking a bumper off to change a headlight component or completely take a motor out for a timing chain because someone decided to but it on the back side or roll my window up without needing to take off an interior panel even if I only had one rolling handle for 2-4 doors. Emission standards and regulations, I will leave alone. Anyways I was only trying to give you a damn compliment. You did a great job building your drift car and the planning and detail. I'll stay on topic the entire time next time.I will not compare Drift car build quality to what automobiles companies lost a long the way because they will not stand up from themselves and will continue to keep taking it up the bottom end. Last part may have been... dare I say a dad type joke.

@@BBox-135 oh I totally agree with you, was just expanding on the thought process. Its interesting that pro drift cars these days are actually drawing back to muscle cars from end of 60's , with V8's and 4-speeds. The transmission that Aasbo won FD with , shares the mounts with my transmission and so does Gittin's Andrews trans. All these 3 transmissions would fit a 1968 Camaro aswell. Its always fascinating to me to see racecars "ignoring" some of the tech that's considering progress in roadcars. Many factory Porsche and BMW racecars resemble older models if you take them apart, for instance the 2010 P45 WTCC BMW motor is a lot like the E30 M3 S14 motor

Can you detail your fuel pump and surge tank setup? what is the piece in between the pump and the filter?
@DriftJesus2 жыл бұрын
Its overkill, we use a lift pump ofcourse to fill the slosh tank but the motor could run on the lift pump alone. We made it this way because it would be plug and play for fuel injection if needed

I loved the video!!! And thank you for all of the great information. I would really like to know more about how you set up your carburetor to handle the back and forth curves when drifting. What changes do you make to the fuel pick up in the bowls? Any and all information would be helpful because I'm in the process of putting a 350 dart small block in my e36 drift car and I would also like to run a carburetor.

Is the motor biult with a short stroke to minimize piston speed? 8500 is impressive
@DriftJesus2 жыл бұрын
Its not just stroke, you can get bigger displacement on similar stroke, its also bore size vs rod ratio, more material between bores makes the head gaskets have an easier job and keeps more distance between the walls. A lot of friction going on at high RPM , everything is still relatively short deck .
