Replaced both upstream oxygen sensors on my 2001 BMW 330CI. I didn't have any check engine lights, I just had problems with emissions. My secondary air system monitor would not go to "ready" status after driving almost 400 miles. After replacing both upstream O2 sensors my secondary air sensor went "ready" after less than 3 minutes.
Total cost was about $150 for the sensors and $15 for the O2 sensor tool. You could really get away with using a wrench on these though.
This has been one of the most frustrating monitors to deal with. After checking and replacing almost every vacuum line under the hood, it ended up being faulty O2 sensors.
