Hi decent progress, the sticky out bit holds the lower back edge of the wing out,

Ah, I did wonder. The panel I cut out didn't have this addition, and the wing/door gap was always wrong. The wing tucked in at the bottom and slightly binded with the door. I wonder if this will solve that problem? Thanks for the advice, I'm glad I didn't cut anything off! 😁
