My US spec 2004 E55 also has optional spare tire, factory installed cellular phone, aluminum sport pedals, and voice control comand head unit, which is activated by an extra stalk on the right side of the steering wheel. Satellite radio was also an option with the trunk mounted antenna

My 06 E55 is missing only distronic and the manual rear window shades, otherwise I have everything even the panoramic roof incl. solar panels. Bought it in June this year with only 61‘000km, I think it was definitely no mistake to spend the extra cash it has cost me compared to the 02-05 models with 120‘000km+. Love your guides, helped me a lot deciding which one to get :P

AMGmeister Unfortunately I am not sure which black it is, deffinitely some black metallic color. The (stock 18“) wheels and chrome parts have been blacked out, currently the only modification is the lowered suspension, looking forward to buying an exhaust system soon but it‘s hard as fuck to find something legal in Switzerland... even the lowering is illegal since it hasn‘t been tested by the DTC (dynamic test center), thank god for the lifting button on the inside. Btw I have an AUX port in the glovebox, was this optional too?

@@robi_e39 I too have the AUX port. I think its standard since its built into the UI of the infotainment system. It's possible that it just says "no aux" when you go into aux on a car that doesnt have it. It would have been pretty forward thinking of them to have it in the 2003 cars though so my hunch is it may have been added when NAV was made standard.

Also I am a first owner of an '06, i thought it was just about fully loaded. When in reality it was about 75% loaded. I think dealers liked to exaggerate how loaded the car was I have: parktronic, active ventilated seats, panoramic sunroof (no solar), drive dynamic seats, navigation, power rear sunshade, the surround system, the 6 disc changer, the power truck closer, and keyless go. Its designo graphite. We were told by the dealer it was the last new one for sale in the USA.

Wow, that's my dream spec, great color! Yours is pretty well loaded outside of Distronic. Solar wasn't available for 2005-2006.

@@AMGmeister time has taken its toll however. The hardwood has hairline cracks and the passenger dynamic seat is out. I also tend not to open the sunroof just in case it gets hung up. I was also surprised to learn there were no options for rear passenger video or a low resolution back up camera. But 2006 left the car a bit quirky, the trunk closes quickly and with vigor. So watch your fingers. Also it doesnt make a beeping noise when it opens or closes so car wash attendants or friends may slam the trunk shut running against the tension of the motor (sometimes breaking the mechanism).

I am lucky enough to actually have that exact same car , with all of those options ! I bought it last year , the black roof is a great look with the classic Mercedes brilliant silver . The seats and parking sensors are really nice options. Also 05 , with 80 k on it ...Oh , it came with wheels off a CLA 63 5 spoke 19 inch wheels ...

Another great video as usual. It should be noted that options are also independent of year. For example TPMS was dropped from the 06 model year. And the solar/pano was only 03-04. Iirc side window shades also dropped for late 06 cars. Also to are production differences, which you’ve covered some in other vids. Namely that 06 model year only also uses CLS55 suspension. This might came into play when ordering parts for repairs or in some instances when modifying the car. Keep up the good work, and if you drop south of the boarder into Washington let me know it would be cool to get our cars together with the large AMG community here in Seattle.

19" AMG Alloys were also an option, though there does not appear to be a code for them? I have the 19's on my 2005 E55, but they are not recorded on my VIN data sheet. There was an amazing number of paint and trim options, but we did not see many here in Oz. Mine is Obsidian Black with Charcoal Nappa leather.

They are BOTH Bi-xenon bulbs for the 2 options of headlights. One just "turns" for corners.

Why does this say that the H/K Logic7 was optional on the E55? According to my somewhat-exhaustive research, it was standard on all North American E55s, 03-06. Does anyone have any information to the contrary?

I wouldn't rely on the VIN method, as a lot of times they're either inaccurate or incomplete and another reason is that many people including me retrofit options, and I'm not talking hacked up retrofitting but OEM retrofitting, like powered tailgate, lights, speakers, interior trim etc

Another very informative video. Had no idea they came in so many colours. I guess the CLS55amg was available in Europe. Alex, Any chance on a video on engine oil level check. My dashboard says 7.3 yet I added 8.3 incl filter. dipstick measured 165mm. (167-169 is what 8.5 measures)

CLS55 was available in US in 2006 only.

Yeah, the digital reader is a little inaccurate. The owner's manual says to fill 8.5L so just top it up 200ml and you are good to go. It doesn't matter if the digital gauge reads low, mine reads 7.8L with 8.5L in the car.

Do you think an E-500 4-Matic is a good choice, I know the performance is not up to the standards of the E-55 or the E-63 but the car is from a family member and I know it has been taken good care of and never driven hard. Also the engine is pretty similar to the E-55

I want an E55 so bad. And I could afford it. BUT my biggest issue with this car is that I won't be able to ever sell this car again. Im located in Germany and prices are REALLY freaking low for this car. But nobody wants to buy them. Its legitimately unsellable. That really scares me to be honest. Cars like the C63 however sell like crazy and prices are going up all the time.

JustinsSupercars gleiches problem in der schweiz, die strassenangaben die wir zahlen (gewicht, hubraum, energieeffizienz und erstzulassung spielen eine rolle) machen das auto fast unverkäuflich. Da es mein traumauto ist habe ich mich trotzdem für ein exemplar entschieden, ich kann dir empfehlen eines dieser dinger mal probezufahren und dann weiterzuschauen. Tipp: ab baujahr 2004 hast du die wenigsten probleme, würde die buyers guide von ihm anschauen :)

Just asking.....is there a specific motivation for AMG tuned MB were fitted with an automatic transmission ? I owned an R170 slk 200 192hp then upgraded to a 320 slk with 6 speed manual shiftgear then my MB dealer kindly let me testdrive an slk32 - 354hp as a further upgrade but with deep regret I gave up the deal just because of such a ludicrous automatic shiftgear system. Can you tell me why wasn't a sporty manual gearboxsuch offered as an option ? Such a brilliant powertrain deserved it....imho. Thanks for sharing :)
