E55 fuel filter small mod

Another great video. Our 2005, e55 had strong fuel smell in cab. Puddle of fuel on top of pump and filter cover.. Called dealer for extended warranty coverage from MB. "Sorry sir, you warranty expired 30 days ago." Ordered pumps and filter with updated electrical connections from fcpeuro. Glad there easy to work on... Thanks for posting. Looking forward to the next episode.....

Its better to replace the filter housing with a new one because it will crack and leak for sure. Its so brittle at this age and also its known to fail and leak fuel.

I only found another channel that routinely show work on fuel systems but this is so important. Building a beautiful engine is completely pointless w/o a clean fuel supply. Thanks for talking about it.

Thanks for the video. I just replaced my pumps a211470000 and fuel regulator/ filter A2114706494 . However the 2 X new pumps do not have the mesh filter on the bottom , the old mesh does not fit either onto the new pumps. Is this a problem to not have this? There is still the main filter in the left side unit which is brand new.

There is an issue with the parts suppliers not knowing how to properly source them I went through this and I made sure I get the adapter and all the fittings and both pumps with the AMG engraving and the filter. Too many part numbers to deal with.

Can you replace filters on the M156/M157 to make it run on external filters? If so, from which car model's fuel filter the best to use?

False economy not replacing the filter! There has got to be a way to get a new one, or make a non-AMG unit work. I am a Benz technician and have had to do my share of "modifications" to get things going. That filter unit also contains the pressure regulator, as you know. I would only trust a new one when trying to return a car to service. Just my two cents, as we say in the USA....
